Forggensee
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
The Forggensee is an artificial lake named after the part of Schwangau (Forggen). The Lech-river had to be flooded to build this lake.
The Lake Forggensee with an area of 16 square kilometers is a paradise for water sport enthusiasts, unspoilt by buildings and freely accessible almost all the way round.
Neuschwanstein Castle ground
by June.b
There's like a terrace a bit down the castle where you can get a good shot of the castle plus a good view of the gorge below. Benches are also there to rest for awhile after a tiring walk to the castle grounds from the small town below.
You have to wait at the inside right after the entrance for your batch number to flash on the red electronic board. And when you see your batch number which is printed on your ticket, you pass over the turnstile.
King Ludwig's Castles
by shdw100
The main reason for coming to Schwangau is to visit King Ludwig's two castles, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The two are absolutely fantastic, with the scenery around them breathtaking. The town is a little out of the way, but well worth the trip once you get there! I would highly recommend it.
