The Bavarian, Lechtal and Allgau Alps
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
Bavarian, Lechtal and Allgau Alps form a magnificent panorama with the meadows of Schwangau.
The Tegelberg (1880 m), the Hoher Stranssberg (1934 m) and the Schlagstein (1679 m) towers from the east.
The Kitzberg (1123 m) and the Kienberg (996 m) - from the south. The Forgensee is to the west and the Bannwaldsee - to the north.
It is a region of castles, mountains and lakes, the most beautiful corner of East Allgau. The two world-famous royal castles are enthroned on their rocky outcrops as if they had grown there: Neuschwanstein bold and unreal, Hohenschwangau romantic and friendly.
Wieskirche

Just north of Schwangau after visiting Mad King Ludwi's castles and while your senses are still tingling from an overexposure to grandeur on the grandest scale, follow the signs to Wieskirche, or the church in der wiess.
Cameras will not do it justice so buy a few postcards instead.
Even my Hindu wife and daughter sat in the pews for 30 minutes constantly saying "wow" or words to that effect, in Tamil.

Pollat Gorge in the genuine style of the old German Knightly fortresses,
the spot is one of the most beautiful that one could ever find. "
Begun in 1869 and left unfinished at Louis's death in 1886, the castle
is the embodiment of 19th century romanticism. In a fantastical imitation
of a medieval castle, Neuschwanstein is set with towers and spires and
is spectacularly sited on a high point over the Pöllat River gorge ......

"The Castle - Royal Palace"
Neuschwanstein Castle, Royal Palace in the
Bavarian Alps of Germany, the most famous
of three royal palaces built for Louis II of Bavaria,
sometimes referred to as Mad King Ludwig,
who grew up nearby at Hohenschwangau Castle.
The entire facade of the castle was covered with
slabs of limestone. This material was found in
Alterschrofen near Swan Lake Swansee, and
the supporting walls were built of brick ......
