New Year's Eve!

by gorpa

I'm looking for a good place to spend New Year's Eve in WÜ. I'd like to find a decent restaurant, and a good bar or club to properly celebrate the New Year. Crowd age is early 20's, and price range can be middle of the road to the bottom of the highs. I'm not sure if that makes sense... Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

i liked the new years parties in the "AKW" very much.

I have been there very often some years ago, but according to friends it is more or less same same as it used to be. There is quite a interessting mix of young folks in thier 20 in this club. You can go there on any tram going direction "zellerau". The AKW is close to the last tramway stop of this route.
It used to be very crowdet, so come early. there is a seperated "restaurant" that offers some basic dishes.

Beside the AKW i would propose to check out the different pups in the sanderstrasse.

Travel Tips for Würzburg

Everyone should absolutely go...

by Angel-1983

Everyone should absolutely go to the Capitol, like I wrote at the start:
Hi! My name is Anja. I live in a small town near Würzburg/Germany. I go there to school every day. There's nothing more usuall to me than doing that. I go there to buy my clothes at 'Orsay' (A girls paradise by the way) and go to the 'Capitol' which is some miles ahead in the next town. Its the club where all American Soldiers go to - and where german girls look for them ;) Since December 1, 2001 I'm engaged to an American, so I'll move to the States in May 2003. I think I will miss my Würzburg then. And maybe it will become less usuall to go there.... Memories of Wüzburg? Hell, there are a lot. I mean I'm 18 now and my parents took me to this town since I was 1 month old. Would take almost a lifetime to tell all my memories. Like I meet my fiancee there, or I got all my X-Mas gifts from there when I was a kid... Don't know. Just ask for more information. I'll answer for sure, cause I really know that town. Maybe better than myself! ;)

Vineyards

by Cristian_Uluru

Wurzburg is famous for its wines. When you arrive here by car the first thing that you can notice are the vineyards on the hills. This region has got many wine cellars where you can stop to taste it.

Sulzfeld, too, has a lovely old town wall. One of the local specialties here - in case you want to eat - are fried sausages by the yard, neatly coiled up. Order them as 'Meterbratwurst' and enjoy some fresh bread and Sauerkraut with the sausage!

Würzburg Tip

by smoox

This is the old bridge across the Main, dating back - I believe - to Adam and Eve. When I lived in Würzburg, cars could still drive over it - today, it´s for pedestrians only. There are statues of saints, among them Wuerzburg´s patron saint, St.Kilian. You´ll find this name quite often in Mainfranken.+ + + The castle in the background is Festung Marienberg (see below).

Neumunster

by leics

The uber-twiddly pink and white Baroque facade of this church hides a church which in fact dates from the 11th century. It is built where St Kilian (an Irish missionary), St Kolonat and St Totnan were buried.....they were murdered in Wurzburg in 689.

The huge altarpiece is worth a look.....
