Star Inn Columbus: Central hotel at the train station

We stayed two nights at the Star Inn hotel which earlier was a Mercure hotel. Our room was very large (enough space for another two beds) with TV, a large cupboard, wardrobe etc. The bathroom was okay, too, only I didn't like that I had to climb into the tub to take a shower. There are also 3-bed-rooms with a similar size like ours, and there are smaller rooms but still spacious enough. And on a separate floor, there are rooms for smokers. The hotel got renovated (air conditioning, laminate etc.) when we were there, but we didn't notice anything of it.
The breakfast was good with plenty of choice - rolls, croissants, jam, cold meat, cheese, fish, eggs, yoghurt, cereals etc. And you could get yourself coffee, tea and different juices.

The hotel is located at the central train & tram station, and you could hear the trams, no matter on which side your room was. That was the disadvantage. Also there was pretty loud music on one night. Besides, the location is great as its just a short walk to the centre and with tram station in front of the door you are quickly everywhere.

Hotel Europa: Good value

A 4 night say here for us. Not a great start as we had booked an ensuite room but none were available when we arrived. A room with a bathroom over the passage for one night a refund of the cost of one night and quickly moved to an ensuite the next morning so not great problem.
Both rooms we used were pretty comfortable, a minor drawback was the lack of a lift, the first night was on the 4th floor afterwards on the second.
Prices not to be faulted, simple buffet breakfast included, worth a visit.

Ibis: Bremen Centrum

The Ibis - standard, reliable hotel chain, found in most European cities, suited our needs for one night in Bremen.

You know what you are getting with this hotel, you even know what the bedspread will be like before you have walked into your room. But that's ok, sometimes you want to just have somewhere to crash that you just know will be ok without having to think or worry about it.

It's clean, comfortable, averagely priced for a decent hotel and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

There is no mini-bar in the room but the TV worked and there was a hot, powerful shower - it's all I needed.

Breakfast is an extremely varied continental affair, with eggs (always hardboiled), breadrolls, fruit, cereal, cheese, cold meats, yogurt, juice, tea (I won't elaborate about that here) and coffee. Plenty to keep you going all day until dinner time!

Oh and the key card worked every time - which was a personal "first" for me!

A Single room (with a double bed???) and breakfast costs 74.50E

Unique Quality: It's difficult to say what is unique about the Ibis as they are the same everywhere you go!
