Business travellers only

The Mercure Columbus is a 'business only' hotel in my opinion: ideal for those on a business trip who just need a bed, bathroom and breakfast.

The hotel itself is pretty basic and has no luxury at all. The rooms are very big: big beds, small table with 2 chairs, and lots of cabinets to put your stuff in. The bathroom is also big but the materials used are a bit old; nothing fancy here also.

As I was there for business and I had to work long hours I've missed broadband internet connection in the room. I think this would have great added value for a hotel in this category.

Food and eating facilities were a bit disappointing to me: breakfast is rather limited and the breakfast room isn't very appealing. There is no restaurant and no dining facilities available so you're obliged to go eat elsewhere in the city.

Although there are some secure parking spots available from the hotel you cannot reserve them on beforehand. If you're unlucky and there is no spot available then you'll have to find a spot to park on your own. In Bremen this might not always be easy - especially in the close neighbourhood of the main railway station. If you tend to go by car make sure it isn't a big one (SUV alike): the parking entry is through a rather small elevator which doesn't like big cars (max height ~190 cm).

Hotel in perfect location

Hotel Mercure is located opposite of Bremens main train station and only a few minutes walk from downtown where you find all the beautiful old buildings and lots of shopping opportunities.

Also directly in front of the hotel you'll find a tram station where you can get public transport to all places of interest. One tram connects the train station with the airport.
