Buergerpark - Bremens Central Park
by joernme
Folks, I love the Buergerpark! Why? Not only because I love nice parks, but this actually is a city park for living. There is 2 categories of city parks in big cities: One is only for nice gardens and walks and the other is also for playing football, frisbee, rowing, sleeping in the grass, picknicking etc. - say for living. The Buergerpark is a nice example for the latter type. It is huge and strechtes from behind the Convention Center behind the Central Station to the University area with the famous "Unisee" with nice swimming in summer. The park has forests, meadows, water, a mini zoo, historical cafes, running circuits etc. etc. etc. If you have the extra time to relax on your trip to Bremen, why not do it here with the locals. Welcome!
Ship museum too?
by bonio about Störtebeker
Almost a museum to shipping inside, pictures and memorabilia pretty much everywhere.
Here for lunch just before flying home so, driving later and unable to try the beers on offer. Food very good, Fried eggs and fried potatoes for Mrs B, a favourite, and look out for the daily specials, mine a very good turkey and rice dish.
Enjoyed our short visit.
Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten
by pieter_jan_v
The Bremen Town Musicians (The donkey, dog, cat and cock) became very popular by the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm (1857 version). The story itself is much older and dates from the Middle Ages. Bremen embrased the four figures and they probably are the best selling Bremen souvenirs.
The city hall
by Bernd_L
This architectural jewel with it's rich renaissance front hosts the Bremen city hall. The city is applying for recognition of this building as a UNESCO world heritage site. It can be visited, but only with a guide because the building is still used as office of the cities administration.
