smoked fish & a museum
by Mandy23
We visited a business where you could watch the production of smoked fish. On the picture you can see what some of my classmates looked like and what we had to wear there ... yes, I know how it looks LOL
Price for a tour with guide: 3,60 €
Address:
Schaufenster Fischereihafen
An der Packhalle IV; Abteilung 12
27572 Bremerhaven Unfortunately our teachers had the 'great' idea to go to the German Maritime Museum next and as you can guess, we were the 'smelling' attraction there ;-)
The Harbour (Open-air ship museum)

Front of the Colombuscenter there is a harbour with some ships and a submarine. You can take a walk on the ships and go into the submarine to see how the mariner could live in such a small place for month.
Fishery Harbor

This „mile“ in the historic part of Bremerhaven`s Fishery Harbor Has restaurants, cafés, bistros, pubs, maritime shops, the Forum Fischbahnhof with the seawater aquarium Atlanticum, the seafish cooking studio and many other attractions.
A maritime attraction, unique in Northern Germany, is located in the historic part of the more than 100-year-old Bremerhaven Fishery Harbor: the Shop Window Fishery Harbor. Upscale restaurants and cosy harbor pubs are located next to each other in the former Packhalle IV.
Here you also have a chance to observe how the smoking of fish is carried out. A great variety of seafood is not only sold and eaten here, but in the Seafish cooking studio they'll also give you valuable hints on how to prepare it properly at home.
See flounder, rays, dogfish, etc. close up in the seawater aquarium.
In the nearby harbor basin, the last German side trawler FMS „Gera“ provides you with an insight into the drudgery of the fishermen, the authentic potato ship „Hansa“, the popular harbor cruises, and the new bicycle station with Tourist Information complement this tourist area.
In the evening, you can enjoy a varied cultural program in the TiF, the Fishery Harbor Theatre.
Open year-round

"Big Ships!"
Welcome to the harbour of Bremerhaven. This north German town offers you a huge museum of navigation! And a lovely little Sea zoo! Funny penguins there! Otherwise Bremerhaven isn´t a touristic place. It the second biggest port in Germany and so there is a lot of industry. The city itself has a high unemployment rate. At least they have an Icehockey Team in the second league over here!
I have been there several times, the pics are from 1980, when I have been nine years old! :)
