Hamburg-Bremen by bus

by PolinaS

Good day!
I'm looking for bus connection between Hamburg and Bremen. The only one which I found for the moment is the site, but it is from/to Bremen airport. Does the bus do a stop in the Bremen center. Or is there any other option for bus?
Thanks for your feedback.

Germany has fewer long-distance bus services than one might expect. I doubt the bus2fly bus stops in Bremen itself; the timetable does not indicate such a stop, and it is an airport-dedicated service.

You might do better to take the train. The journey can be less than an hour, and advance online one-way fares are only 19 euro. Times, details, fares and booking in English here:

Booking online is easy. You receive an eticket, which you print out and present to the guard with the card you used to pay (essential). The system works very well, in my experience.

The cheapest option is to use a Niedersachsen-Ticket (Lower Saxony Ticket) for this trip. Only regional trains, but covers in Hamburg and Bremen also all local public transport.
Niedersachsen-Ticket is valid
Mo-Fr: from 9am till 3am next day
Sa,Su: from midnight till 3am next day
Niedersachen-Ticket Single (1 person) is EUR 20,00
Niedersachen-Ticket (2-5 persons) is EUR 28,00
This ticket is always available. On spot from ticket machines. Or for EUR 2,00 more also at the counters.
DB timetable
From: Hamburg
To: Bremen
and select as means of transport "only local transport" if you want to use the Niedersachsen-Ticket.

Travel Tips for Hamburg

Port and Quay

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Deep-water Elba, port cranes, sea vessels, predictably, made an impression of Hamburg, as one of the largest ports of the world. The convenient quay along the river, crowds of tourists and picturesque views at architecture monuments and quarters of buildings framing them made an impression about Hamburg, as about tourist sight.

St Pauli football

by bonio

A visit to the Millerntor stadium is a must for footie fans. Be warned, tickets are not easy to find, even considering they play in Regionalliga Nord (2006/7) games sell out weeks in advance. We managed to buy a couple on e-bay for a reasonable price.
Anyway, once you're there atmosphere inside is second to none and how a football game used to be in the UK when I first started going.
A local derby with Holstein Keil was won 2-0 by St Pauli, currently looking good for promotion back to 2Bundesliga.

Dance The Night Away

by ericaj. about Angie's Nightclub

Angie's Nightclub is the resident hotspot for soulful music. From Thursday-Saturday nights, they have a house band comprised of great session and concert musicians from all over Germany, and they feature feature a rotating list of singers who are known throughout the country from the pop, r&b, and musical theatre scenes there. The live music is a mixture between soul and pop favorites, with dj breaks in between that play classic disco and current dance hits.

Cover charge is about 8Euro, unless there is a special party or concert taking place. For alcoholic drinks drinks, stick with beer, wine, or clear liquors on the rocks, as the mixed drinks on their very extensive coktail menu are GROSSLY overpriced (12 Euro+).

With the exception of the cocktail issue, it is all in all a good place to go, with music that will appeal to a wide variety of tastes when you're in the mood to dance for a few hours. Though it used to be more casual, the dress code was recently revised to not allow sneakers. Women should be able to get in with jeans, but they are a bit stricter with the men.

Das Tafelhaus

by tini58de

The Tafelhaus used to be located in an industrial area in the west of Hamburg. It was a rather small restaurant with extremely friendly and knowledgable staff and the food was excellent. The guests ranged from business men in black suits all the way to sometimes even jeans and sweater people, but they all had one thing in common: they just love good food!

In May 2004 the Tafelhaus moved to another location: they are now in Altona Neumühlen in a place with a spectacular view of the Elbe River. When we went there in July 2005 we were quite curious - and a little scared, too - would it be the same as "our" small Tafelhaus?

Well, no, it wasn't! It was very nice, but not the same as the old place: the view was spectacular and that's what makes the Tafelhaus a top location now. The food was very good, but not as gourmet as it used to be (and we found the helpings a little smaller than back then). The staff was friendly and knowlegeable, but the all in all atmosphere was a little impersonal.

For "first timers" I would still highly recommend this place both for the location and the food, but we will not go there again, because it has changed from a small intimate gourmet restaurant to a high class tourist restaurant.

Harbour Cruise through Speicherstadt

by Ines28

I think already everything has been said about the Speicherstadt. So I will just say that the harbour cruise is a nice and relaxing opportunity to see the harbour and the Speicherstadt. This is just a must-do.
