A&O City Hotel Hamburg

We have stayed here in summer 2006. It’s a typical hostel with dorm rooms but all of them have private shower/WC. It’s ideal for budget travelers or just young ones that don’t mind share the room with others. I would stay here with my wife but it was funny when we travelled in group of 6 on our way to Wacken Open Air as we stayed here only for some hours.

The decoration is very simple of course, the hair dryer in the room was handy for the long hair people. The staff was helpful and friendly. The supermarket near by was very handy too.

The hostel is is located just 3 stops from the Main Station in Hamburg

Directions: Take the bus 110 from the Airport to Ohlsdorf station. Take the train 'S-Bahn' (S1) from Ohlsdorf station to the main station (Hamburg Hauptbahnhof). From here you take the Metro U3 to 'Hammer Kirche'. Follow the road in 100 meters and you are there.

Its not gonna be the hostel of your dream as it does not have something special, but it is a good place to stay in Hamburg. Quite cheap, though it seems in Hamburg hostels and hotels are quite expensive in general. Good location. Not so easy to get there from the railway station, still not very complicated either. The direct surroundings are not the sexiest in the world, but except from that, it is really 5 minutes walking from the city center and it does not seem to be a rough district.
The staff is very nice and the rooms are spacious and clean.
There is also a bar when you can relax and have a drink and a game room, where you can play pool.
