Hamburg hauptbahnoff to Hamburg Fuhlsbuettel Airport

by kikili

Hi
I've read about the fare from the main railway station
to the airport..leaves every 20 mts or so for 5 euoro's.
Just want to clarify...the central railway station and
hamburg hauptbahnoff is the same ?
Also does anyone know the best way and price to get to Kiel from Hamburg
and back by bus/train ?

Hauptbahnhof and Centralstation are the same.

From Kiel to Hamburg train is the best mode of transprotation. How many people are you? If you are more than one a Schleswig-Holstein-Ticket wold be cheap.

Central station and Hauptbahnhof are the same according to http://www.freetranslation.com/

You can go by public transport from the airport to Kiel according to Die Bahn http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

Do I see this correctly: you want to travel from Hamburg Airport to Kiel?
Than the best/fastest way will be the Kielus Airport Bus.

Danke Schon
I will take the train from Ham Hboff to KielHb
and return Kiel to Ham Airport by bus.
The bus, kielus, quotes me about 17 euro for KHb to HamAirport, but the Db website had no fare quote for the local train from Hamburg central to Kiel Hboff !

The DB timetable shows only the prices where the DB tariff applies.
For Hamburg to Kiel the SH tariff applies as long as you're using regional trains.
This is a local public transport tariff covering all local public transport: the regional trains but also all other local public transport in Hamburg and Kiel. E.g. U-Bahn, trams, buses, ferries (in Kiel to my knowledge there are only buses).
The SH tariff tickets are zone-to-zone tickets, thus you can travel from anywhere in Hamburg to anyhwere in Kiel.
Single ticket is EUR 18,30.

The Beatles in Hamburg

by barryg23

If you've seen Backbeat you'll know why John Lennon said "I was born in Liverpool, but grew up in Hamburg". Between 1960 and 1963, before they really made it big, the Beatles played in Hamburg a number of times. Tracking down where they played is not easy as most of the venues have changed names or, in some cases, have been demolished since.

There is a plaque on the well remembering the Beatles assocaition with Hamburg (see picture) at Grosse Freiheit 36, which was the location of Kaiserkeller, one of the venues the first played. Though it's no longer the Kaiserkeller, the same building is still a music venue. Not like the place next door, the very first place they played, which is now called the Funky Pussy Club.

Across the street at Grosse Freiheit 39 is where the famous Star Club once stood. This was the venue that most people associate with the Beatles in Hamburg.

Couldn`t believe it

Must be the bargain of the century. The card was purchased in our hotel and for a ludicrious sum took 4 of us around the city for three days, and entitled us to discounts at some attractions. From memory it was about 11 euros per person for the 4 of us!

Sushi

by chris.hh about Bok - Asian Food

Bok is a small Hamburg restaurant chain offering Asian food. In the Schulterblatt restaurant they mainly serve Sushi which is pretty good. But I am not a professional in that. I enjoyed it. Also the atmosphere is nice in an old city building with high ceilings and if I remember correctly with some stucco or wall paintings. There was something special... The prize of couse is little higher but I think it's pretty average for Sushi. I had a good eater with me so we ordered much - maybe this also just was the reason? However, I can recommend this location if you feel Sushi;-) Even if I am not a lover of restaurant chains - I prefer small locations - but that's OK in this case.

Get some fresh fish and party in the morning:)

by frankyboy5

Hamburg is known amongst young people for its nightlife.
Numerous clubs and bars line whole streets in the downtown area and parties often spill over into the daylight hours.
This leaves a large group of tired and hungry people that may or may not be ready to go home, these are some of the fish markets unlikely early customers.
As the sun comes up over the citys mighty harbour, it casts its first rays onto the waterside open market where local merchants sell fish, but also all manners of fresh produce. At one end of the market there stands a large three story warehouse which is home to a restaurant, a stage and a lot of small food stands.
Here the party continues for some, and just gets started for others with a live band and breakfast.
