Carat Hotel

I can't say anything negative about this hotel. It's located outside the center of Hamburg, but by S-Bahn it's only 2 stops to the train station. We booked this hotel over the internet and got it for 57 € per night per double room!!! It's a 4-star hotel and the rooms are really fine and big. Therefore the rate was awesome (regular rate would be € 132 per night per double room).
The only drawback was the surroundings of the hotel. I wouldn't wanna go from the S-Bahn Station to the hotel at night (therefore we took the taxi). There are suspisious people in the street that connects the hotel to the public transport.

Unique Quality: * Great rates (if booked via internet - the regular rates are rather high)
* Sauna
* Happy hour at the hotel bar from 5 to 7 pm

Directions: S-Bahn station "Veddel"

Surrounded by a residental area and face to the highway. Rooms are clean, quite big, no bath but shower. Breakfast is not bad, warm food supplied, which surprice me! The hotel is clean but beware to take rooms facing the highway. A supermarket is beside.

Unique Quality: Sauna is available, but didn't try. Parking lot inside the hotel.

Directions: This hotel is a bit outside, but still easy to reach through metros. Just two stations away from the main station. Off at Veddel and need to walk for about 1 km.

Carat Hotel. Am due to stay there in Aug 2002 will give info when returned. OK have in fact now cancelled this Hotel due to feedback from several VT'ers and my Nephew. Apparently this is in a Very Dodgy area of town so would avoid this one :-(
