check out www.berlinlinienbus.de

If you book in advance online with bahn.de you can get very good train fares.

You can travel from Hamburg>Berlin for just 29 euro...and train will be a lot faster than bus.

Tickets are limited in availability, so they can sell out.

You'll find train times, details and fares in English here:

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

If you book online you will get an e-ticket by email. Print this, and bring it with you. You show the e-ticket to the guard with the card you used to pay online (you must bring the same card as it is your ID).

Works very well indeed.

Yes there are other options, plane, bus, taxi, car hire, bicycling, roller skating, skate board, or walking :-)

Travel Tips for Hamburg

Hamburg Harbour

by Noor1203

The port of Hamburg is really beautiful, and by far the most important in Germany and one of the leading sea goods transhipment centres in the world. It is the gateway to markets in northern, central and eastern Europe, the bridge between the Continent and overseas..

Sea Devils revisited

by bonio

Second visit to the AOL arena for a Sea Devils, this time around 20 degrees C warmer than last. same opponents, Centurions and same outcome - a win for the visitors 18 -24. An entertaining, error strewn game, played in front of a record Sea Devils crowd - the warm weather even persuaded Mrs Bonio to come along.

Sadly the Sea Devils and NFL Europe are no more, 2007 was the last season.

Beergarden

by nepalgoods about Schumachers Biergarten

Schumachers Biergarten is a big place to sit outside, enjoy a beer and a steak and a wonderful sunset. The location is near the swimming-pool in Stadtgarten. The surrounding is nice and peaceful. It is also called a beach club. no dress code

Dining at the marine propeller factory :)

by coccinella169 about Eisenstein

Eisenstein is named after russian film director Sergej Eisenstein and is located in a former marine propeller factory in Hamburg Ottensen. Again nice brick stone architecture! In the same building are another restaurant and a cinema. They are famous for their pizza but serve also more ambitious food. I had a "Geräuchertes Petersilienschaumsüppchen" as a starter - a creamy parsley soup with smoked dogfish. It didn`t look like a soup at all as they served it in a cappuccino glass with cream on it :) - but I can tell that it was delicious! Then I had the Pizza Tonada with tuna and fresh onions, which was very good as well.
Soups are around 6 EUR, Pizze between 9-14 EUR, main courses around 15-20 EUR.

Die Speicherstadt

by shellseeker

This is my favourite sight in Hamburg - well it is more a district of its own. The neo-gothic style building are still in use to house the trader’s treasures such as spices, carpets, coffee, tea and rum. You can do a very good guided tour through the 19th century storage houses when visiting the “Spice Museum”. Or you go on a “Hafenrundfahrt” (harbour cruise) with one of the “Barkassen” on offer along “Landungsbrücken”. They bring you inside the storage quarter wnd you have a special view of the channels and the houses all around.
