hi,we will be visiting hamburg in early july,its a thursday and friday.can anyone tell me where there is a pub/club with live rock/indie music? also wot can we do on the friday afternoon,tourist things etc? cheers!
i like the beatles,but after spending lots of weekends in liverpool,ive had enough for now.as for indie,i like to go and see local bands cos u dont know wot u are gonna get,and if ur lucky will catch an early gig from a future big band.cheers anyway and i will check out the sites u mentioned.

been a good few years since I was working in Hamburg but had many a good night seeing a few bands at "Grosse Freiheit 36" thats the address I guess aswell so if it still exists it should be easy to google. It was right opposite a couple of boozers full of transvesites so if you see any chicks with dicks you know you are in the right area.
Got good memories of Foetus Interuptus doing a brilliant version of Alex Harvey's Faith Healer there. ahhhhhhhhhhh memories!

Hamburg, one of the oldest German trading and commercial cities is host to 90 foreign consulates. The city also has one of the highest concentrations of Asian companies of any European metropolitan area. During the past 20 years Hamburg has also become a centre for medical and biotechnology companies.
Just to the rear of the Rathaus (Town Hall) is the Borse (Stock Exchange). Selected areas are open to the public during trading hours and admission is free.
There is not too much to see although the building itself is quite impressive. The best thing about it for me were the four 1:16 size model ships in the foyer. They are replicas of ships sent out by the city to protect shipping from the depredations of pirates and are very impressive. If you are into maritime history and / or modelling, it's worth popping in for a look.
There are explanatory leaflets in German and English.
Hamburg has 4 trainstations - the Hauptbahnhof being the most important one. From here you can go EVERYWHERE!!
The other trainstations are Hamburg Harburg, Hamburg Dammtor and Hamburg Altona - and they are included in your ticket even if it only says: destination Hamburg!
I love this concept! A small, elegant coffeehouse that also sells a choice selection of music. It's inviting and cheerful, and the baristas are expert. Listening stations for previewing the discs. "Select coffee, select music" is their motto.
It was a cold wet (hung-over) morning when I walked to the Docks. It was cold and wet.
There were many tour buses parked here, so I assume this is where you would go to catch one. also there were many boats advertsing trips. I'm sure on a nicer day with a clearer head I would have took a tour and been able to tell you more.
