The Elbe - Das Feuerschiff (Fireship)
by yooperprof
Das Feuerschiff - moored at the Landungsbrücke - is an old converted fireship that has been converted to a hotel/restaurant/bar. Monday nights are an open jazz jam - a really good time!

Oldest Door
by Kushelkitten
If you look at my Hamburg page you will see an old half timbered house. This is the oldest house South of the Elbe but it doesnt have the oldest door. That honor goes to a door on a half-timbered house on Lämmertwiete which currently houses a Thai Restaurant (see my restaurant tip "Restaurant Row".
S 3 or S31 to Harburg Rathaus, exit Neue Str. Go straight . 4th intersection (caution small side streets) right hand side.
Hamburg Card
by PelLihi
We were in Hamburg for 3 days and had no clue what card we would buy in order to get around, when we arrived there. Then we learned about the Hamburg card on the train station. This card offers GREAT value for the money!!! We bought a group card (because there were 4 of us) and paid 24 € IN TOTAL for 3 days of public transport. That's not much if you divide it by four!! And above of that this card gives you the usual discounts that you would expect from a tourist card (museums,...).
Miraculum?
by bonio about Paulaner's
Ah-ha Bavarian beer in Hamburg, and close to our hotel too, an obvious stop for the Bonios. A late evening meal (23:00, why don't pubs do this in the UK?) for us, mid April and warm enough to sit outside - love global warming. Anyway, tasty food and beer of course, friendly service in a good location right opposite the main rail station, has to be worth a visit.
Elbtunnel
by PelLihi
There is an old and a new Elbtunnel in Hamburg. The new one is where the cars can go under the river Elbe to the other side on a regular basis. This is a "regular" tunnel. But the actual attraction is the old Elbtunnel. There are also cars, bikes and pedestrians going through this tunnel. But what makes this tunnel different is the access to it. Everyone (even cars) have to go down there via an elevator!! and the road down there is only 1,92metres wide!
Pay it a visit when you go to see the harbor at "Landungsbrücken".
