I do not like some one to tell...

I do not like some one to tell me where to go - 'must' is not the word for me...
Therefore ý would not dare to suggest anything to a free traveller. Listen to your hearth, and find your own way. Me ?... I personnally prefer to follow the footprints of ordinary people; old sailors, retired prostitutes, the jobless, part time workers, hopeless lovers, people without a goal to reach in life, thats my tribe... Cheers... (photo- Luis Marden/ career collage) Hamburg was beautiful with 'Peggy Lee' and her 'fever'... We lost her a few days ago unfortunately. I raise my glass to her beloved memory, god bless her soul... I threw her 'fever' from the music-box to the air in Hamburg bars. The music struck strangers like a slap in the face. Then, 'Pink Floyd (money), Jimi Hendrix (Hey Joe), Rolling Stones (Paint it Black)' followed; melted all strangers in a common pot...
Thank you Peggy Lee...for your 'fever'.
Elbwanderweg
by tini58de
This is a hiking trail of 23 km that will take you from Wedel along the Elbe river all the way to the Landungsbrücken in Hamburg. It is suggested that it will take 5 - 5,5 hours to do so, but any smaller section will do and will just be wonderful!
Enjoy the green, the river, the boats and the closer you get to Hamburg enjoy the city!

from Outside of europe you will fin it most easy to get either a direct flight to hamburg or if your first destination is frankfurt (since it has the biggest airport in germany) get a connection-flight right when you book your ticket.
Once on the continent, it's quiet confortable to get on a train. Make sure to check fares: night or evening-fares are almost half the price of the normal ticket. to keep it really cheap you can get a weekend-ticket for about 35 DM which is valid for up to 5 people (i think). The big disadvantage is that you can only take regional trainsto get to hamburg which means it's gonna take some time...
det a three-day underground-train ticket. for one day, and especially when you are a group, take the family-day-ticket.
Restaurant Row
by Kushelkitten about Too Many to name
Located in Hamburg-Harburg is a small street of Fachwerk houses, Lämmertwiete. The are about 350 years old , I know because I live in one not on the same street but near by . On this street are at least 10 distinct restaurants. You can find pretty much whatever you are in the mood for, Brazilian, Italian, Portugese, Thai, Mexican etc.
In summer Lämmertwiete is quite the busteling little street. Almost all the restaurants have outdoor seating so guest can enjoy the warm, sunny days. Depends on the restaurant.

You must see the town arround the lake called 'Alster'. On one side you can find great, expensive houses that are used for politics and other rich peolpe. On the other side there are houses that belonged to poor people.
