I love these old Jugendstil...
by chatzchen
I love these old Jugendstil houses and we have many of them in Eppendorf .
Here you see an old Jugendstil house built about 1900, located at the Isestraße where they also have a very nice market. If the fishmarket is too early for you you can visit the Isemarkt between U-Bahn Hoheluftbrücke and U-Bahn Eppendorfer Weg. The Isemarkt is every Tuesday and Friday from ~8.30 am to 1pm and mostly for locals who buy vegetables, fruits, cheese, fish and meet,
but I really love it and these types of houses are all around there.
Public Art - Gotthold Lessing Monument
by yooperprof
Gotthold Lessing was an 18th century German poet and playwright, considered to be a master of the Rpmanticism - although also one with classical tendencies. He was also an unabashed liberal, far in advance of his time.
His monument is in the Gänsemarkt - it was lit beautifully during the Christmas market.
SMART cars.... Ugly as Sin
by nikola316
I don't care what the girl on the airplane from Hamburg to Amsterdam told me!!
To her they may seem modern and efficiant... but I can't stand these little rodents of the road.
I like my big Japanese Mazda!! It has a small but powerful engine. I have trouble parking it in the city. It is not very snappy in handling... but it rules the road when it works.
This car is a scary concept.
By the way, there is a coffee shop here also.
AN ITALIAN LUNCH IN THE HEART OF THE BUSY HAMBURG
by STEFZAMM about IL CAPUCCINO
THIS TAVOLA CALDA IS IDEAL FOR LUNCH, THE STAFF AND MANAGEMENT ARE ITALIANS AND BEHIND ITS DOORS IT FEELS LIKE ITALY. IT HAS ALOT OF LIGHT FROM ITS SURROUNDING WINDOWS AND A COUPLE OF TABLES. THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND IF NOT A GERMAN SPEAKER LIKE ME YOU CAN COMMUNICATE IN ITALIAN.. (IF THAT'S EASIER). I HAD PIZZA IT WAS VERY GOOD BUT THERE ARE ALSO OTHER SPECIALITIES, THE SERVICE IS ALSO FAST AND THE RESTAURANT CLEAN... I HAD PIZZA THOUGH OTHER SALAD DISHES WITH ITALIAN SPECIALS AND PARMA HAM ALSO LOOKED VERY GOOD. THE MENU IS IN GERMAN AND ITALIAN AND FOOD IS SERVED IN A FEW MINUTES..... AND MOST IMPORTANT .. THE FOOD AND THE CHEFS ARE REALLY ITALIAN... :)
The River Elbe North Of Hamburg
by RhineRoll
Just north of Hamburg, the Elbe becomes really broad widening into a huge estuary. This is a landscape dominated by waters and skies, particularly wonderful on a cold and crisp winter's day like the one pictured here.
