Aussenalster
by shellseeker
Where else in Europe do you find a big lake right next to the city centre, surrounded by upper class quarters and parks? Actually it is not a real lake but a river called “Alster”. During the warm period you can go sailing on the water and running, biking and walking all year long at its river-bank. There are plenty of water-side cafés all around. The views of Hamburg from there are just unforgettable.
Oevelgoenne - a great museum-port in Hamburg
by globetrott
Within the city-limits of Hamburg, BUT at its west-end, you find Ovelgoenne ( the local spelling is Oevelgoenne). This small fishing village is well known for the Museumshafen , a small port full of old ships and the special thing about that museum is, that you may see these ships docked in port like they would be still used today. Some of them could be rented upon reservation for cruises or festivities while beeing docked in port (read about details in my Ovelgoenne-page !)
You may approach these ships easily all day long, as there is no fence around this small port. You are not allowed to go onboard, but of course you could, when nobody watches you.

The Museumshafen is directely at the dock, where the ships #62
(St.Pauli Landungsbruecken-Finkenwerde) are landing, and just about 200 meters from the place, where the Hamburg-bus #112 will end.
Park
by Bigs about St. Pauli and Reeperbahn
It´s a little bar right in the heart of the "Schanze", one of the best places to go out. I really liked the simple interior here and the fresh beer. There are some dishes on the daily menu as well, some arabic ones as I think the owner is from the middle eeast I think. Sounded nice, but I didn´t had anything. None
Want American Style Food?
by Kushelkitten about Tex's Bar-B-Q
Has a standard American flair like Fridays or Bennigan's in the US. Great food and fast service. Spinach Enchilada is the best. A little heavy on the sour cream but you can tell them to serve it on the side. The size guarentees that you won't leave hungry.
Churches
by Sjalen
We went on bus and metro tours during our short visit so I never took many pictures this time. Therefore, one church is all you will get for now, and a very Hanseatic looking one at that, which reminds me very much of the fact that Malmö is not that far away - not only does it look like Malmo's St Petri but it shares the same name :) It was built in the 12th century but ravaged by fire and later rebuilt. Otherwise, 17th century St Michaelis with its position on a hill above the harbour is the most well-loved and beautiful church.
