Ìàêå a tattoo as I did. Not that it's so special but it was so for me. And I count. Having a drink in a sailors' spot around the harbour. The barwoman was playing some card game with a customer and we've been on rum. 1920s are back.
A flashback.
Altona:Relaxed Neighborhood of Bohemian Intellects
by ericaj.
Whereas Blankenese is known for its' millionaires, and St. Pauli for its' infamous red light district, in the laid back neighborhood of Altona, 20-late 30 somethings will probably be most likely to find their niche.
There is a small area in Altona that is home to a plethora of coffee houses, markets, and small shopping center "MERCADO " that houses quaint food kiosks, wine bars and, a few commercial clothing stores like H&M and Bennetton.
For a relaxing way to spend a few hours drinking café and people watching, take an S Bahn train to the ALTONA station. Go upstairs to the Ottensen Haupstrasse exit, and explore the brick lined streets.
Inside of "Mercado" (on the right hand side outside the exit) you will find Italian, Turkish, and other exotic counters that sell any number of freshly made dips, pastas, olives, cheeses, and cured meats.
Outside of the Mercado, continue to explore Ottensen Haupstrasse and the nearby intersecting Bahrenfeldstrasse to chose from any number of cafés, bars informal restaurants and that focus on continental and middle eastern specialties. There are also some interesting shops that sell unique clothing items, scented home gifts, and the like.
Many of the coffee houses and bars on these two streets have sofas inside, making it a good place to plop down and read a book or magazine between sips of coffee or tea.
Music in Altona/Ottensen
by chris.hh about Fabrik
I like this place with the atmosphere of an old fabric. It's a music location in Altona/Ottensen with concerts, parties, also gay/lesbian parties. They also have jazz in their program and sometimes also cultural concerts - I mean bands from different countries that you would not get to know that soon. I have seen a famous underground band from iran O-Hum which was very interesting. In wintertime they also have fleamarkets here on Saturdays.

Altona/Ottensen is an interesting quarter with lots of bars, restaurants, also check cinemas for the Zeise Kinos if you are interested in that.
