HSV match 25/26 March 2006

by AFCB

Hello

My friend and I are thinking of going to Hamburg 23rd-26th March, we would like to see the HSV game, but we are flying home on the Sunday. The HSV website says the game will either be on Saturday OR Sunday. When will the day be decided for definate? and which is it more likely to be?

Also, which is the best way for us to guarantee tickets as we live in the UK? We dont speak German so cant really buy tickets over the internet

Kind Regards.

The HSV ticket site is German only. To order tickets you may use kartenhaus.de instead, has already prooved to work fine for UK residents. On kartenhaus.de, select the English flag top right, then "Sport" a bit below, at the right end of the menu bar. On the following page select "Hamburger SV" middle left, not "HSV Hamburg" top right (the latter is the handball team of the HSV). The matches are finally listed on the next page. As ordinary guest you'll probably want seats either on the east or west side of the stadium.

That said, I must add that you might have to contact service@kartenhaus.de first since for some reason all tickets are currently listed "in Vorbereitung" ("in preparation") even though they are already on sale on the HSV's site. No idea if that's a temporary problem, but if not they might still be able to arrange something.

There is still uncertainty over the match being on a Saturday or Sunday, the Saturday listing on the website is subject to change it seems.

I wonder when it will be decided for definate?

One more note: If kartenhaus.de can't help, send a fax to ++49 40 4155 2036, that's the fax machine of the HSV ticket sales department. (Don't forget to complain that the HSV ticket site is German only ;)

The match is on Saturday.

Is this certain? Some HSV fans are telling me it is not yet decided.

Its difficult as there are only 1000 tickets left - not much time left.

Thanks for all the responses

Well, let's put this way: For the match tomorrow there are right now 1200 tickets left. It's against Stuttgart, ranked #6, while Dortmund is ranked #9. Granted, Dortmund is a bit more popular than Stuttgart, but to me it still looks like chances are good that tickets for the Dortmund match won't be sold out tomorrow, just like the Stuttgart tickets were not sold out a month in advance. So, keep cool, wait a week or two and have an eye on the HSV schedule (and you'll need to find out how to buy your tickets anyway).

You know Germans look quite strange zometimez and they eat strange stuff ... but this is the strangest I've ever seen !!! After this bad pic we went for eating this colored fruit (cause u have to know Frau Fraedrich cannot avoid shopping when she gets in touch with strange stuff :-) and it was not so bad ... I guess Germans are not so bad as well choosing their food ...

Bus to airports Luebeck and Bremen

by chris.hh

The airline Ryanair offers cheap tickets but mostly flies to airports that are pretty far from where you want to go...

There are also bus connections starting / leaving from ZOB (central bus terminal) next to the mail railway station in Hamburg (Hauptbahnhof) to different airports.

You will find more information and/or time shedules here:

For Lübeck (LBC): around 8 € and one hour
Ryanair: www.vhhpvg.de / http://www.vhhpvg.ch/ryan/index.php
Jet2: www.vhhpvg.de

Bremen (BRE): around 14 € and 1,5 hours

An interesting place this St Pauli....

by ChadSteve1975

So what does one do when they go to Hamburg. Well on the weekend apparently everyone goes here to the Reeperbahn. The red lights of Hamburg.

And I was there on a Monday night, during the day. Boy was it dead.

I walked past at night just to make sure I didn't miss seeing it all lit up. And that was good. Although I was a bt confused that some parents had children with them walking along the street. It's not the environment for kids. Even if it all happens behind closed doors.

And before anyone asks. No I didn't go inside the closed street. I didn't have the guts to just venture in. Especially with all the tourists watching other tourists as to whether they go in.

The Reeperbahn

by Blatherwick

The famous Reeperbahn runs the entire length of the world renowned red-light district of St. Pauli. The approximately 600 m long street, which is almost square-like at its eastern end, receives its name Reeperbahn from the fact that here ships rope was twined. There is a tradition of popular entertainment in this area of "Hamburger Berg" which was further developed when in the early 19th century an entertainment district was established.

The Erotic Art Museum features racy art from the 16th century to the present, including Japanese woodprints, and paintings by Henry Miller, Jean Cocteau and other artists.

The street known as Grosse Freiheit ('Great Freedom') is the home of all the sleaziest strip clubs, but isalso where the Beatles played gigs at Kaiserkeller and the now-defunct Star Club.
