There's a direct bus every 15 minutes, the journey takes about 20 minutes and costs 5 Euro.

Do you know exactly the number of the bus?

No, sorry. But the buses do have a sign with their destination in front. You can't miss it. The buses stop in front of the terminal building very easy to find aswell.

Jasper Airport Express
This bus has no number, as it's not part of the public transport network HVV of Hamburg. This is also the reason why this bus costs EUR 5,00.

Less direct, but covered by HVV public transport tickets, is to use bus #110 to U-Bahn and S-Bahn station Ohlsdorf. Single HVV ticket to any U-Bahn/S-Bahn/bus/ferry stop in Hamburg is EUR 2,50.

The best option will really depend where you final destination is.
Hamburg next to the Hauptbahnhof: Jasper Airport Express (direct and fast) or HVV (slower, 1 change, but you save EUR 2,50).
rest of Hamburg: HVV
Schleswig-Holstein: SH tariff tickets include the HVV
Lower Saxony or Bremen: here the Lower Saxony Ticket is at least an option (and does also include the HVV)

Travel Tips for Hamburg

This is the main church of...

by sotschi

This is the main church of Hamburg called St. Michaelis. People from Hamburg call it the 'Michel'. It's a very beautiful church and every day a man plays plurally chorals on a trumpet from the spire.
This church is not a must, but it is an old emblem of Hamburg.

SPICY´S Spice Museum is located in Speicherstadt, near Harbour City. It is on the second floor of a hundred year old store house. The visit to this museum not only gives an great overview of the planting, harvest and use of spices from all over the world, but is also a great opportunity to see one of the old storehouses form inside.

The Spice Museum is supposed to be an experiential museum. You can see, touch, smell, taste and submerge in more than 50 different spices.

Access To Public Transport in Hamburg

by RhineRoll

Hamburg has an excellent public transport authority -- the HVV.

Disabled visitors will find that the overwhelming majority of buses are disabled friendly. The S-bahn metro train is being made more accessible, but there are problems relating to access of the underground stations in Hamburg's inner city. So far, only (but at least) the central train station (Hauptbahnhof) has lifts to the platforms. A number of other stations has escalators, but don't count on them being operational.

Oma's Kuche

by barryg23

We picked Oma's Kuche (Grandmother's Kitchen) based on its name and the cheap lunch menu outside. I was hoping it had the same owner as Oma's Apotheke, the excellent restaurant we had eaten at almost every evening of our trip.

But we weren't so lucky. We were given a much more expensive menu once we sat down. And the food turned out to be mediocre, just like the service. I could have lived with that, had the beer been nice. But even the Paulaner just tasted wrong!

Ghosts, ghouls, things that go bump in the night.

I wouldn't say this is a must see activity as such, but there is no section for "things to do to pass an hour or two."

The activity referred to is the Hamburg dungeon in the warehouses by the docks. You are led through a series of rooms by actors / guides (referred to as creatures in the publicity) and a series of scenarios are enacted for you including the fire of Hamburg, a pirate ship, and a completely manic religious inquisitor. There are a lot of special effect features and it is all very well done. the actors certainly seem to get into their roles with a deal of gusto.

The only problem is that, obviously, it is all in german, so if you don't speak German, the whole effect is somewhat lost, although it is still enjoyable enough.

The last part of the experience is a "log flume" ride depicting a great flood.

i am not sure if there are tours in other languages for organised parties.

Admission is €13:95 per person.
