Hi, there is a lot of information about using public transport to and from Luebeck -Hamburg at the airport website:

http://www.flughafen-luebeck.de/800/english/index.htm

Take the bus to Lübeck Hauptbahnhof (main station) and change for the train to Hamburg. Train ride will take 30 minutes, don't know about the bus.

Travel Tips for Hamburg

Monuments - World War I Dead

by yooperprof

In the small basin in front of the Rathaus stands this monument to soldiers from Hamburg who perished in the First World War.

The sad irony is that many more people from Hamburg died here, in the city, in a single week of bombing in July 1943.

Peterstrasse

by barryg23

We would probably not have found this street without our guide book as it's fairly well hidden away from the main streets. Peterstrasse is one of Hamburg's nicest streets, containing a row of restored red-bricked 18th Century townhouses. It's quite near the Grossneumarkt and the Johannes Brahms museum is at the western end of the street. It should give you a good idea of what Hamburg must have once looked like before most of the city was destroyed in WW2.

how to move around

by mindcrime

Hamburg has an extensive bus and subway network that will took you everywhere fast and easy. We used some local buses (pic 1, the hotel staff helped us with routes) but it is much easier to use the subway(U-bahn and S-bahn) because it’s easy to navigate your self on the subway map, there is one huge one in every station that points where you are(pic 4) etc I noticed that many locals bring their bicycles in the subway (pic 3)

There are different tickets:
single tickets,
Short trip tickets (up to 4 stops?),
day tickets for 6.30e (5.40e after 9.00am)
3 day tickets for 15.90e
group day tickets (up to 5 persons!) for 13,5e (9,20e after 9.00am)

Check the official site for routes and directions (you can just enter the street address)

For tremendous breakfast look...

by mauro_pd

For tremendous breakfast look for ALEX !!! Really an impressive buffet for only 10 DM (5 euros !!!). Just a small remark: forget orange juices, they're 98% water composed :-)
Big & relaxing place for a more than relaxing breakfast. Small wursten with ham & butter !!!

Hamburg's Rathaus (city hall)...

by CubsIn4

Hamburg's Rathaus (city hall) is a beautiful building that draws a lot of tourists.
Besides the tour of the actual Rathaus (available in either German or English), the neighborhood is a nice place to visit. I'd recommend you take the tour and then spend some time exploring the area.
