 | Germany Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 334 | | Camping Munstertal, has won the campsite of the year award on quite a few occasion's, it's awarded by the German ADAC camping group, so this is a big plus for the site. This site has every thing, and, I mean everything for the camper. The amenities are second to non, clean, well kept, and, of a very high standard, from the 3 toilet block's with individual bathrooms, to the well run excellent restaurant and shop. There is a well stocked shop on site, selling camping needs as well as food, drink souvenirs and papers. You can have a pitch with phone and TV connection's, all have their own drainage and water. There are dish washing facilities and a dish washer, washing/Drying machines and a free iron. For the Winter Ski season there is a drying room and ski storage. Dogs are welcome and they even have there own shower! For the children, there is a wonderful adventure playground, football pitch, boules area, pony rides and horse riding, crazy golf, tennis, table tennis, beach volley ball and a games room. Bikes can be hired to explore the area .There is a small fishing lake stocked with trout, for all the fishermen among you all you do is pay for what you catch. Concerts are held weekly during the summer months, with local bands and choirs. They do trip's to the Schnapps brewery and wine tasting at a local wine producers. Guided walks are also arranged through out the year. This site is open all year round, and so are ALL the facilities. Only the Restaurant is closed for the month of November.
The site has a heated indoor swimming pool and an outdoor pool with a small children's paddling pool. Also you will find a Spa with sauna, solarium and all kinds of alternative treatment's. Views of the open country side and forest surround the campsite. You will always get a warm welcome from the owners Herr und Frau Ortlieb. The site now has wifi connection. Don't miss the Chocolate shop next door to the site, it's just behind the the train stop, open daily. Leave a Comment Theme: CampgroundComparison: about averageAddress: Munstertal. Simple clean accomidations, just inside the walls and a 5 minute walk from the main square of Rothenburg. The folks that run the guesthouse were great, the young energetic guy (forgot his name) speaks good english. What was a huge plus about this place was that it is smoke free, could'nt find another smoke free place in Rothenburg! This can be important if you've got kids, or someone irritated by smoke. Good price for accomidations & location. The Restaurant is decent as well.
Smoke free. Also, they have a couple parking spots. (I will place this also under Warnings&Dangers). Well, this is not necessarily true for the bigger cities, but definitely for rural areas: If you are travelling in Germany, and either have already made your reservation for accommodation, or look for some place to stay for the night along the road: Make sure, you check in latest 9 p.m. !!!! Most hotels in rural areas close their doors latest 9:30 p.m. The reason is quite simple: With all our job cutting, it is not easy for hotel owners in rural areas to have staff, so they often do all “hotel” work. If they have to get up early to prepare breakfast for the early leaving guests, they go to bed early. In case, you have made a reservation already, please check with the staff when you have to aarive latest. Some might be willing to open you also late in the evening. If you don't have a reservation, and just look for a hotel on the road in rural areas, you better check in before 9 p.m. Leave a Comment Theme: Hotel

Depending on where you stay, this could wind up even cheaper than the Youth Hostel, without the drawbacks, such as strangers in your room, slamming doors, screeching kids, etc. If you just need a warm clean bed where you can flake out, a place to shower and a cup of coffee and and a sanwich in the morning, try a bed & breakfast, often known as Fremdenzimmer in Germany.
It's personal, it's private, it's homey and it's safe - safe from thieves, screeching kids, strangers in your room, and it's inexpensive. Leave a Comment

A clean, well priced guesthouse with modern rooms just a 5 minute walk to the pedestrian area of Garmisch. The hosts are very friendly, facilities modern, (a fairly recent renovation), and a great price for lodging, breakfast included in this beautiful area of Bavaria. Parking available on premises.
1 floor is smoke free. They also offer a seperate large "holiday House" for larger families. You can still arrange to have breakfast as the holiday house is ont he same property. If you are looking to stay in Germany, I would strongly suggest considering a typical Gasthof (guest house) or B&B. They can be found throughout the country, particularly in the south. I've stayed many times and have rarely been disapointed. Depending on where you will be, google the city and gasthoff or bead and breakfast. Also, often the official web site for the town or region has a seach you can run; here's and example for Garmish area.
Staying at a guesthouse, you'll often get breakfast, sometimes dinner and even a midday snack. You'll also save money and get a more personal experience than a Hotel. Typical accomidations can run from 30-60 Euros /person/night. Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than average

If you looking for clean, affordable accommodations, and are too old for the youth hostel thing, but don't want to fork out a lot for an expensive hotel room, when you're going to spend the night on the town, anyway, click on the link below.
Friendly people who understand that you want to save your money for seeing Berlin, instead of an expensive hotel room. Leave a Comment

Recently, I spent a beautiful day in the Odenwald near Frankfurt. As I was saying goodbye to my friend, late in the afternoon, he showed me a place on the map that I might want to stop in before driving on towards Hamburg. I set off but found myself way past Seligenstaadt (must check spelling) and on the road to Marburg. Got to Marburg in no time and went straight to the Youth Hostel. Very well organised, as all hostels I saw in Germany. And great location on the River Lahn, 10 minutes walk from the old town. The hostel closes at 11 p.m. and offered me a key but I said I'd be back way before then. I made my bed and ran out... by the time I found the hostel in the dark, it was midnight. So I slept in the car. The showers were great, when I got in at 7 a.m. the next morning. Good breakfast too! To get to the Old Town from the hostel, there is a pedestrian wood bridge over the Lahn, lined with huge trees and with a view on the castle, former home of the landgraves of Hessen. I took the pic at dusk unfortunately, from the wood bridge. I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The decent sized rooms where clean and well maintained. But most of all the family that ran the hotel was very warm and friendly which is something I must say I do not often find in German hotels. Rooms are 59 Euros for a single and 81 Euros for a double. Rooms have cable TV with some English speaking channels which I appreciated because it rained like mad at night while I was here and I decided to stay inside and keep dry.
The hotel is well located if you want a decent place to stay by the train station. For me this was a must since I used Koblenz and the hotel as a base to visit the Mosel and Rhine Valleys. On the down side this also meant other people including bus tours were doing the same thing so the hotel was crowded. Book ahead if you want to stay here. This year we left our caravan at home and rented an apartment at our favorite campsite in the Black Forest. The apartments are well equipped and very comfortable. They have 2 bedrooms, one of them is en suit with a bath and shower, both bedrooms have electric beds, there is one other bathroom with shower and toilet, a lounge/ diner, a small, well equipped kitchen with full oven, fridge /freezer, microwave and even a dish washer. There is a small balcony overlooking the valley. They have TV with cable, and, new this year wi fi Internet access. You need to take towels and hairdryer, if needed an iron, but you may use the washing/drying and ironing facilities on the site. There about 7 are steps up to the apartments,so, if you have a disability, it maybe a problem.
The good thing about these apartments is, that you also have the full use of the campsite facilities ie : indoor and outdoor swimming pool, restaurant, playground, tennis court, crazy golf and wellness centre. Leave a Comment
