 | Germany Reviews | Tips 321 - 330 of 334 | | From the Frankfurt airport, we rented a car which came equipped with a navigator, therefore making it easy to reach our first destination, the Best Western Parkhotel Rodermark where we had made reservation for one night. From the airport, the drive took no more than 35 minutes in total Our hosts were waiting for us and the check-in was done very quickly. We were given a room on the 2nd floor, with a balcony facing the wide fields and trees at the back of the property. Our modest room, although small and not air-conditioned, had a definite charm. Very clean, it came with a large comfortable bed, a TV set, a small fridge and a coffee maker, a desk and coffee table and chairs. A large window and door gave onto our balcony. The bathroom was quite small but modern and well equipped with hair dryer & a facial magnifying mirror mounted on the wall above the vanity. Toiletries such as soap, shower gel & shampoo were also provided. The hotel's Beer Garden was the perfect place for our first meal in Germany and we ate outside on the patio bordering the lake as the sun was setting behind the trees. Our waiter was very pleasant, charming and very helpful in giving us menu recommendations in order to sample some good German food. Our enjoyable conversation with him made us feel so very welcome in the country. The breakfast buffet available the next morning was quite impressive! The dining room is warmly decorated and welcoming. It supplied us with a wide variety of choices and more food than we could have possibly needed, all very nicely displayed and very good.
As soon as we drove onto the hotel grounds, we immediately loved this quaint Bavarian-style hotel in the countryside of Rodermark. Approximately a seven minutes drive from the town’s main street (Ober Roden), the hotel is surrounded by large fields and trees which were full of blossoms at the time of our visit. The property also borders a small lake adjacent to the Beer Garden’s patio so it offered a very peaceful and relaxing retreat surrounded by the lovely sights and sounds of nature. We had pre-booked online from home in Canada and were not sure what to expect but we were certainly not disappointed. We believe the hotel is very popular with business groups / conventions so it is wise to book early in advance. We would have loved to stay there again in the fall of 2007 but it was not available for the date we wanted. Theme: Hotel

On a recent visit to the city of Dusseldorf I had to face 2 difficult situations - there were no rooms in Dusseldorf due to a trade show and the second was that I had a 6 in the morning flight back home. I therefore decided to sleep in a place near to the Weeze airport. I was recommended the Gelder-Dyck in a town called KEVALAER which is just 10 kilometers away from the airport. It is a very nice, cosy and comfortable small hotel offering bed and breakfast to travellers at a very reasonable cost. The room costs 38 Euros with breakfast for a single person. It has all the commodities you can expect to have a good nights sleep. The owners of the place are a very charming and helpful people. Even though they did not speak any English they helped us the best they could and I sure was satisfied with my stay here, reason for which I would recommend this place if you happen to use the Weeze airport. We decided to spend one day in Heidelberg before the Gluhwein meeting in Karlsruhe. So we looked for a hotel there and found this hotel which is a few kilometres outside Heidelberg. The owners were so friendly and helpful, a goldmine of tips about where to park the car in Heidelberg, restaurants and things to do and see in the surroundings. Unfortunately we had no time to do any of those things this trip, but what they succeeded in doing was to make us think about a holiday there in the future. The owner came over and chatted to us during breakfast and that was very nice.
The buffet breakfast had lots of choice but there was also a cooked breakfast if you wanted it. The room was lovely, nicely decorated and lovely and warm after a cold day. the hotel is in the countryside, outside Heidelberg but easily found. The price is room price and not per person, breakfast is included in the price. Free parking in front of the hotel. Free wireless and high speed internet. we stayed here for 2 nites during june 2006. though it got quite cold in the evening, the reservation office was extremely generous with their blankets. (they supply you w/mats & blankets) not being booked to capacity might have allowed them to do so. we stayed in the big tent where you scope out a place to set up camp, unroll the sleeping bag, drop the bags, and go back out to play. they have ping pong tables, tons of places to sit & chill, their own beergarten, a fire pit (which is crackling every nite) and a place to play some futbol. the bathroom facilities were well kept and had tons of hot water to go round. outside of the bathroom facilities, they have solar heated water where folks could do a bit of laundry; they have a clothesline to assist with the drying stage. in addition to the big tent, if you bring your own tent they've got room for you to set it up or you might be interested in their smaller tent which has beds. in the big tent, they have lockers. you just need to bring a lock. keep in mind that if they are fully booked, there may not be enough lockers. we went during the FIFA games and had no problems though. and the staff...... very nice folks! Unlike some countries, the star ratings in Germany are regulated and actually mean something. No problem like countries where the hotel gets to decide and they have a myriad of systems like stars, diamonds and who knows what. The system is: 5-Star – Luxury 4-Star – First class 3-Star – Comfortable 2-Star – Standard 1-Star – Tourist (read budget) Hotels also display their stars and have their stars on their websites so you know before you go! These are simple serviced apartments, very close to the Frankfurter Messe Hall. If you're looking for value and a good location, give Frau Ingrid Faber a call. :) BTW, the place is a little weird to find for cab drivers, just a bit off a motorway. So, print the following description, written in German. Give it to your cabbie.
Nice little kitchen, two twin beds, a small table... All necessary kitchen appliances and aids, along with silverware and basics like sugar, coffee, tea, tea.
