This hotel is set on the edge of the city park and is very comfortable. It is a little walk to the city centre but you can easily get a bus if you need to. The city park is lovely to walk through. I do not have a photo of the hotel -so here is one of the centre of Ludenscheid.
I stayed at Le Meridien Park Hotel****+. I recommend the older 'Historic wing' of the hotel as opposed to the 'new wing' which is mainly geared up for business travellers.
The rates are reasonable and staff friendly especially in the Hotels very own Casablanca bar where we spent many a happy hour.
Le Meridien Park is an ideal base on which to explore the city and is only a five minute walk from the Central Station.
FAMILY OR FRIENDS....IF NOT....HOTEL...I LIKED THE HAMMER HOTEL, LOCATED IN THE CITY CENTRE ACROSS FROM THE TRAIN STATION IN MAINZ...COMFORTABLE ROOMS AND CONVENIENT LOCATION...BAHNHOFSPLATZ 6...PHONE..49-6131 965280...REASONABLE.
In Bamberg I stayed at Buger Hof which is a couple of kilometres out of the city. Pluses were: friendly staff and the owner spoke English; it was right where the bus stopped; from Buger Hof you could take a beautiful 2km walk on an island park to the city; you could eat there. Minuses: The accommodation standard was only average. Sorry, I can't remember exactly, but it wasn't expensive.
When you get to Berchtesgaden, go to the Information Centre. There they have a wonderful map with all the accommodation sites listed and all you do is push a button and a light comes up on the board with its location. Most have the price range listed as well. Prices vary but I found them generally inexpensive.
Just about all accommodation in Berchtesgaden has a great view! They all have that alpine house look as well.
