Hotel Pension Fidelitas
This family run hotel (or better fitting: B&B) is located somewhat higher up on the eastern slopes of the valley, offering beautiful views of the valley, the mountains and the town. It's a 10-15 minutes walk to the tram station and the spa centre, quite much uphill on the way back. Nice garden, free parking available.
The family who runs this place is very friendly and helpful. They gave us an apartment with an additional bedroom, even put another TV in the second bedrooom. And yet, they charged us for a double room - about 65 Euro incl. breakfast buffet if I recall correctly. Nicely decorated rooms, comfy beds, quiet and with beautiful view. No elevator, but we didn't mind.
Breakfast room is quite large, bright, we had a table right by a window with view across the valley - nice. The buffet had everything needed - a variety of bread and rolls, cold cuts, cheese, eggs, cereals, yoghurt, jams, honey ... tea and coffee, two sorts of juice of course.
They also offered dinner, but you had to make a reservation until noon. No choices, though.
By paying the local tax (Kurtaxe) you get the KONUS card which gives you free rides on trains/buses/trams in the Black Forest, even to Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Basel ...
