BLAUER TURM - BLUE TOWER

by LoriPori

Built around 1200 as the keep on the West side of the Staufen Imperial Palace, the BLAUER TURM or BLUE TOWER ( because of its blue tiled roof ), is a symbolic landmark of the town of Bad Wimpfen. The Tower with its four turrets, was well used into the 19th century as a watch-tower. From the top, there is a wonderful view of the Old Town and the Neckar Valley

Guttenberg castle at the Neckar river

by MD2nd

Since the Guttenberg knight’s castle was built in the Middle Ages it has been continuously lived in, and escaped destruction.

It greets the valley from its mountain top, between the lively Neckar valley and the idyllic Muehlbach valley, with its imposing tower and palace, its many walls and guard towers. The castle is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Neckar region.

It can be easily reached by car and it is said to hide a great many mystical adventures and hidden secrets for everyone who enter its medieval surroundings. - The drive from Bad Wimpfen to Guttenberg castle takes about 30 mns.

"CAFE' BIRKENSEE"

After parking our little Panda in a lot, we walked across the street and the first thing we saw was a wonderful pond with lovely white swans. The CAFE' BIRKENSEE is located here and is supposed to be one of the most popular and best known restaurants in Bad Wimpfen. It is located on Neutorstrasse 10, 74208 Bad Wimpfen.

"BURGERSPITAL"

After doing some research, the only thing I could find out about this building is that it's the BURGERSPITAL and is a museum.
