We will be visiting Baden-Baden on Sunday, May 18th. There are races on this day, we have never been to the horse races and are not sure what to expect. Should we buy the tickets at the facility or make reservations? What kind of dress can we expect? We have dinner reservations at the Zum Alde Got and where hoping to do some wine tasting prior to dinner. Any recomendations for vineyards?

Only if you plan on booking a table at a terrace with restaurant service. The other terraces are included in the admission. The common admission (Sattelplatz) is € 7,-- resp. € 11,-- on sunday.

You'll see anything, from Jeans to designer clothes. Just put on anything you like, unless you'd book one of the more expenxive terrace tables. "Align the prices of clothing with the price of the table you booked", may be serving as a rule.:-)

Have you organised transportation as the race course is not in Baden-Baden but in Iffezheim which is at some distance from Baden-Baden.
Well the swimming pool is not really beautiful but it is the only swimming pool in the city center.
Opening hours in-door pool:
Tue ? Fri 7.45 am to 9.00 am and 1 pm to 8 pm, Wed until 9 pm, Sat 7.45 am to pm, So 7.45 to 1 pm.
Opening hours outdoor pool :
May 15th to Sept. 15th. 9 am to 8 pm. Don't forget to bring your swim suit!
Ther e is a casino in town. The CMas market is right in front of the casino, which is about a 10 minute walk from the main pedestrian walkway through Baden-Baden.

The catholic parish church of the city is standing above the remnants of the Roman baths. The 13th century church was enlarged and changed in the late 15th century, then burnt down in the French war of 1689 and rebuilt afterwards.
The choir contains several graves of Marggraves of Baden(-Baden), among them Ludwig Wilhelm, Türkenlouis, the founder of the new residence at Rastatt and famous commander of the Empire's troops against the Turks around 1700.
We had heard of Baden-Baden. I'm not sure where or why, but we got off the autobahn, and stopped there.
We had a heck of a time finding the library (Stadbibliothek) - even with the map. The library seemed to be the only place to access the internet, and even though we found the building, we could not find the entrance which was off a busy shopping street (Lange Str. 43) in another attached building).
