Skiing at Feldberg
Feldberg is the main ski resort in the Black Forest (Schwarzwald). They range from 945 m up to 1446 m. Skiing and snowboarding is usually possible from December till late March. I visited Feldberg on 10 April 2004, when there was still sufficient snow (which is uncommon for April).
The resort advertises with 28 lifts and 50 km of marked downhill ski pistes, but that is not all connected. The actual main ski area is smaller, namely 26 km of pistes. Still it is the biggest German resort outside the Alps.
There are few challenging slopes at Feldberg, but skiing is excellent for beginners and intermediates. Prices are much lower than in the Alps, and why pay for more if you don't use it? For experienced skiers, I would not recommend to spend more than two days at Feldberg.
