(rather) cheap and good
Freiburg's youthhostel (Jugendherberge in German) is located on the city border directly at the slope of Black Forest. One of the most lovely locations of town. Dreisam river and stadion are also very close, as well as a typical Black Forest restaurant (2 km's in the mountains uphill). Downtown is around 4 km's away.
The hostel was renovated recently and the rooms (usually four or six beds) are nice and light.
Unique Quality: You can either rent rooms for bed and breakfast, breakfast with one warm dish (afternoon or evening) or breakfast and two warm dishes. Prices are from 16 to 30 €.
Food is good, but of course this is a youth hostel ...
Freiburg youth hostel offers also conference room, tv/video room, table tennis and more stuff like that.
