This 3star hotel is centrally, but relatively quiet located. Only an easy 3 minutes walk from the railway station and not much farther from the old town.
My (single) room was small, but well equipped with cable-TV, telephone, shower/WC, hairdryer. Service was very good, friendly staff.
The hotel has an elevator, sauna, nice lobby and elegant (Art Nouveau) breakfast room. Breakfast buffet was better than average.
I paid 69 Euro per night for my single room. They also have special offers (see their homepage).
I would stay there again - especially for the central, but relatively quiet location and the very good breakfast.
The hotel offers the regional ticket for all three zones of the RVF (public transportation) for free, which saved me a lot of money.
This hotel is conveniently located in the Old Town, just a short walk from the main railway station. It is bright, clean, friendly and now completely non-smoking. I booked at short notice through www.hotel.de and got a single room with breakfast for EUR 69.00 per night.
They have a free internet connection in the lobby, at a stand-up table to keep any one person from monopolizing it for too long.
Second photo: The wash basin is cleverly contrived to look like an old-fashioned wash bowl, from back in the days when they had no running water.
I used a lovely little Pension in Schonach, called PENSION SILBERBLICK!!!
I pay 25 DM(each Day) for a Doubleroom with breakfast.
La Romantika is in Guldenfingen which is approx 20 minutes by taxi from Freiburg. The taxi cost us 15 euro to get there, which was very reasonable. Once we got there, the owner told us where the station was and we took the train back to Freiburg which was fun.
I did not stay at this hotel.
I was just very impressed by its architecture and location.
The city guide explained to us that this hotel was considered to be one of the oldest in Germany.
They say it operates since the 12th century.
It has a great downtown location, big rooms, and a friendly helpful staff.
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful surrounding... wonderful spa area with pools, sauna, hot whirlpool, beauty etc.
Hotel Victoria: definitely a very nice hotel few steps away from the warm city center ... kind people and good breakfast in an astonishing room are the main features of this hotel.
We went for a good double-room without reservation for just 210 DM.
Small town about 15 km from Freiburg city center, Riegel was mainly famous for its brewery, which sadly closed down in 2004 by irs new owner, the Heineken brewing giant. The majestic brewery - most of it build late 19th and early 20th century - will be housing cultural and art galleries plus offices and is currently being adapted for its new use.
The hotel is right in the picturesque town center. is also known for its excellent local cuisine and Kaiserstuhl wines.
Hotel room are very comfortable at very attractive rates.
A great place to stay in summertime. Handicap: the hotel and town center is a good 2 km from the Riegel railway station. So it you come by train (from Freiburg, Offenburg or the nearby Europa Park), and don't want to do the (pleasant) walk, then check the bus and/or Kaiserstuhl local rail timetable for connections between the main station and the centre. Not very frequent during off-peak periods.
We did not stay at this hotel but it caught my attention because of it's facade decoration and I read a little about it. It's used as inn already for many hundred years and one of the oldest buildings in Freiburg.
