This hotel has such potential - we even had a balcony! So where did it go wrong? Well...for a start, we arrived in Heidelberg along with the first real cold spell of the autumn and sure, we were told that we could put the heating on in the room, but the radiator next to our daughter's extra bed never worked and the one near our bed was hidden underneath our curtains once we drew them at night, thereby creating stress that the place would burn down as the textile got incredibly hot - we had to fold the curtains in the end to relax. Secondly, you have to tell reception (a flight upstairs so do not try this hotel if you need a lift) what time you want to have breakfast. There is no buffet but just four tables and quite a casual breakfast lady serving you delicious food as such but we are in Germany and yet there is no Alpen-yoghurt nor even a boiled egg in sight. Nah, this place rakes in the money and it does so on its wonderful location. As soon as you step outside, you are below the Old Bridge (see third picture) so it really cannot be better and room rates are accordingly. To be ctd.
