Did you check www.sperrmuell.de? The ads in the Rhein-Neckar Zeitung? The black board in the uni? Put a note out in the pub you're working. Heidelberg is a very difficult city to find a place to live, especially now, with the winter term just beginning.
I try to send you the link for spermuell in Heidelberg.

Sorry, I tried this long link again, it doesn't seem to work right now.

The main daily newspaper is the RNZ. Best will be to get a weekend issue, as there are the most rental offers.

If you are staying in Heidelberg for more than just a day this tourist card is good value.
The HeidelbergCard lets you use public transportation (including funicular to the castle) and enter the Castle and many museums free. You also get special rates for theatres, concerts and tours.
Prices are:
1-2-day-ticket, one adult: 12 €
1-2-day-ticket, two adults, two children: 24 €
3-4-day-ticket, one adult: 24 €

It can be bought at the tourist information centre at the main train station and at many hotels.

Markt Platz

by sandysmith

The Markt Platz is a lovely open square...great place for a coffee at of of the many cafes and people watching and admiring the architecture around you.
In days of old people would have watched witches and heretics being burnt in the 15th century.

Marktplatz (Market Square)

by Audrey118

One of the distinctive character of the Heidelbergtown are to be found at the market suqare; they are the Holy Ghost church on the left of this picture and nearby is the Rathaus which is the old town hall.
It was here in olden days public courts of justice were held, and witches were punished and possibly burned to death.

In this picture you also see the fountain, Herkulesbrunnen who as if looks down to all passerbys. The Hercules statue was made in 1700s - Baroque styled.

This is definately the BIGGEST...

This is definately the BIGGEST can beer I'd ever seen in my life! I just found it in supermarket here!!!!!
Beer is the cheapest drink I can find in supermarket, even cheaper than distilled water!

A boat ride up the Neckar Valley

by Callavetta

The Neckar River flows through a beautiful part of Germany and no visit to Heidelberg is complete without a trip on a boat.

There are a couple of options; a 45 minute trip that just goes along the banks of Heidelberg itself, or a 3 hour trip that goes up into the Neckar Valley. The second is highly recommended.

The trip goes through locks and past century old villages and castles. It's possible to get off at the midpoint and visit the village before returning on another boat.

Please see the travelogue for more photos of what visitors will see.
