group accomodation

by uschi97

Im planning a trip to Heidelberg next june with a group of 50 people.
Do you have a good idea for an accomodation (except from the youth hostel)?

In this case I would write directly to the tourist office:
info@cvb-heidelberg.de

They have normally lists and other material esp. for (bus tour) groups.

I recommend that you check the VT hotel listings in the OLD CITY. Our group of 20 just booked practically the entire Goldener Hecht hotel for a weekend.

You should make your reservations as soon as possible to ensure success!

Travel Tips for Heidelberg

Postcard city streets

by shdw100

Have you ever seen a postcard of a place and thought "Nah, it cannot possible look like that?" Well, Heidelburg is NOT that type of place. If you were to receive a postcard, it looks EXACTLY like that! The streets are narrow and clean, the buildings colorful, and the architecture superb! Heidelburg is a wonderful town to see a postcard in person! Taking the 315 stair hike up to the castle with my wife Audrey, and Christine (tini5de) We made it, slowly but surely. It was an awesome spectical from the top!

Koenigstuhl - 1

by chicabonita

At the Koenigstuhl are several footpath for nice walkings. This statue stands at the very beginning. I asked my self if the rubbish was put in the globe on purpose to say "Look that is what careless people left in the wood" or it the globe was originally empty and some used it as rubbish pin

THE HEIDELBERG MONKEY

by LoriPori

Towards the end of our excursion, Jessica brought us to the bronze sculpture THE HEIDELBERG MONKEY which is situated west of the Old Bridge Gate. It's supposed to be good luck to rub the round mirror the monkey is holding or perhaps you could just stick your head inside the monkey's head like Stace (Beach_dog ) and Hans ( Waalewiener ) are doing in these pictures.
The sculpture by Professor Gernot Rumpf was installed there in 1979.

Alot of my friends (myself...

by Krystynn

Alot of my friends (myself included) who came here don't want to leave after laying eyes on this lovely town! It must have been the air that we breathed in and the food we ate. But seriously, if you have a chance to come here, do try and spend more time just soaking in the atmosphere and the old world charm of this lovely town. You won't be able to experience this same kind of feeling when you're back in the big cities.

Oh, and the Germans here are a pretty friendly bunch too. Most of them could converse pretty well in English with me... or rather, I should add that they understood what I was trying to convey (with my animated gestures and all!) most of the time. Believe me, this is a big relief to me.

Small is good

by GeneKYUSA

visit smaller/older parts of the villages and cities...many of the more beautiful and historic sites are located in areas with small streets wihout access by auto or public transport....Mopeds or bicycles or simply walking is the best way to get to these places...Watch for festivles in the smaller villages...
