Karlsruhe is located on the Rhine River in an area, where since more than 4000 years people settled. fromm 400 to 100 A.D. the Celts lived here. Then tha Romans came and left. Small towns and villages were build and destroyed again.
The modern town of Karlsruhe was founded in 1715 by Count Karl. That is why the town was called "Karlsruhe": The restplace of Karl.
The palace was build to please the count.
Marktplatz.
by Maurizioago
On Marktplatz (Market square) you can see the town hall, the Evangelical church and a small pyramid. This is the grave of the city's founder; Karl III Wilheim, Margrave of Baden Durlach.
When I was in Karlsruhe, almost every day there were lots of flowers stalls in this square.

Karlsruhe is my husband's hometown and I learnt to love that place as well:
it is a rather quiet city, has a beautiful surrounding like the Black Forest or the Alsace/France, great weather conditions - well, and for me it has the most special person in the world!!
You just got to love this place!!!
