Wildpark Stadion

by Bonzostar

I'm just wondering if there are guided tours given at the stadium or even if the public are allowed access to have a look around?

Re: Wildpark Stadion

by Kakapo2

I have never heard about that - but I might just not know it... However, as KSC is not a very exiting team you should not expect enough interest to justify guided tours. They only do this in spectacular arenas like Allianz Arena and Olympiastadion in Munich. But I can imagine that if you contact the club there might be someone who lets you have a look around.

Although I live in the area I don't know if they give guided tours at the stadium. I only have been inside during matches of the local football club KSC (BTW: not a big amusement at the moment :-(

I very much doubt that they offer tours because the stadium is nothing spectacular. Maybe you can have a look inside during the training. I recommend to ask this question directly to the club. The email is: info@ksc.de

Re: Wildpark Stadion

Training normally is not in the main stadium but one of the training grounds around the stadium. But as said, best you contact the club to find out.

BTW Not only the team is not very flash at the moment, the hooligans part of the fans (who are no real fans at all), called Ultras, are an absolute shame for the club.

>>> the hooligans part of the fans (who are no real fans at all), called Ultras, are an absolute shame for the club. <<<

That's more or less the same at every big football club. Idiots are idiots whereever they live. And unfortunately big crowds like football spectators are misused by these morons.

Travel Tips for Karlsruhe

The Baroque Residence

by Kathrin_E

Karlsruhe was founded in 1715 by Marggrave Carl Wilhelm of Baden. At first he had only planned a small palace for his hunting trips, but soon he decided to build his new residence here.

The ground plan of the town is unique: The tower of the palace is the center of a wheel with 32 spokes. One third of the circle is occupied by the town, the other two thirds belong to the park. This ground plan is still visible on today's town map.
A model in Badisches Landesmuseum (photo 2 and 3) shows what the baroque town and park looked like.

What's left of the baroque architecture in Karlsruhe? Not much, in fact...

- the palace (Schloss)
- Fasanenschlösschen (1765) in the Eastern part of the Schlosspark and 3 chinese pavillons
- Kleine Kirche, the former calvinist parish church (1773-1776)
- two houses in the Eastern part of Kaiserstraße: the Seilerei (1723) and the adjacent building
- the so-called Schwedenpalais (1768-1770)

Palace Park

by hunterV

Taking a stroll in the park near the former Duke Palace was wonderful!
You can just walk or lie on the grass near the pond there.
If you like visiting museums, you can go to the Baden State Museum located in the Duke Palace where you can see big collections dating back to the Middle Ages. There are lots of streetcar routes in the city, among them those that would take you outside the city including those that would take you from the city center to Bad Herrenalb, a famous recreational area in the Black Forest.

Some Facts

by nepalgoods

Karlsruhe now has more than 250.000 inhabitants.

In Karlsruhe our highest court is located: the Federal Constitutional Court.

Karlsruhe is located between Black Forest and Rhine River. On the other side of the Rhine is France and Alsace.

Fächerstadt - the Fan City

by tini58de

Karlsruhe is called the Fan City because of its architecture:

the palace is the center of Karlsruhe and from there the streets leave like rays - or like a fan! This means that you will be able to see the palace from every side street off Kaiserstraße! When returning from Ireland we had the best of weather and flew over Karlsruhe, thus being able to see the fan-like shape of the city. Truly awesome!

THE FOUNDERS OF VT !

by DAO

These are some (rather bad) pictures of JR and Tillman – the founders of VT. Guys – THANKS! There is also a picture here of a room full of people representing all of you who actually read this. I have now met VT’ers on purpose and by accident in over 10 countries now. This is the coolest travel website on the planet. Good job guys. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting and shacking hands with both these guys inside the very brewery (but not room) where the conceived VT. I also go to have pizza and beer with one of them later. You can guess which one.

THANK YOU !!!
