My wife and I spent a couple of night in March, 2012 in this pleasant hotel. It's a typical German hotel for its type, located on the upper floors of a "Gründerzeit" building, with a reception area in the hall and a small breakfast room. We opted for a room on the more expensive front side in order to get a lake view. The room was furnished with simple furniture in very good condition with a small but adequate bath. Everything was immaculately clean. The reception was extremely helpful with advice about the area, storing bags until we were ready to leave, etc. All the staff spoke good English. The breakfast was a well stocked buffet typical of better hotels of this type and was quite good.
The hotel is across the street from the train station on a busy street. Noise was no problem at all with the windows closed but might be in the summer. There is a McDonald's on the ground floor, which provided a good source of cheap coffee but also posed a problem. In the evening, there was often a crowd of noisy teenagers/young adults outside on the street smoking cigarettes and being generally a bit obnoxious. Not threatening at all, but also not pleasant.
Nevertheless, we were pleased with the overall experience and recommend the place.
Unique Quality: Outstanding service from reception
Directions: On the harbor across from the main train station
