Best way to travel

by mia001

I will be traveling from Boston to Zurich on June 21. I need to be in Konstanz on June 22 and wasn't sure of the best method of travel. Some one told me about taking a train from Zurich to Konstanz???
Thanks,

There are direct trains from Zurich Airport to Konstanz. The journey takes a bit more than 1 hour. For detailed info:

There are direct trains from Zürich Airport and from Zürich HB (main train station) to Konstanz.
If you have no planned much sightseeing in and around Konstanz anyway I would suggest to travel directly to Konstanz. Less expensive and a lot to see there any nearby.

You can buy the train tickets on spot.
Buying in advance has no advantage. Seat reservations are not required.

My GoogleEarth shows Zurich is connected to Konstanz by good road. It's a 70Km trip (51minutes long). The paved roads from Switzerland are longer than railways. So I believe the best transportation is bus. This notice is not flawless since I am brazilian and never had been in Zurich.

“Kons-tants” or “Konsh-tants”???

by Kathrin_E

Wish I knew. Locals pronounce the name of the city “Konsh-tants”. However, I have never found out if this is the official pronunciation in High German, or just the regional dialect which turns any “st” into a “sht” sound. Swabian and Alemannic natives are incapable of pronouncing a sharp s-t.

Us from the North of the country, we automatically say “Kons-tants”…

DAY TRIP OPTIONS: Radolfzell

by Kathrin_E

If you happen to change trains in Radolfzell, invest an hour and take the next train to do a quick walk of the town. It is three minutes to Münster church and the main square from the train station, and one minute to the lake promenade. I suppose the people of Radolfzell now wish they had built their railway line and station elsewhere than right between old town and lake, but for short-term visitors this is very convenient. The old town centre is small, so in one hour you can walk round and get an idea of the town, including the interior of the big church and a quick walk along the harbour and lake.

Cathedral of Konstanz

by VDElvis

Towering over all other buildings in Konstanz, the cathedral (or Münster) is the defining feature of the Konstanz skyline. This beautiful church, built I think in the 1500s, or earlier, is definitely worth checking out while in Konstanz. Located a short walk through downtown from the marina or train station, you can go inside the church for a look, and for a few Euros, walk up the stairs to the roof for a great view of the city, the area, and the Bodensee (Lake Konstanz).

Yes, this is the bus station

by Vanity666

I was a bit confused, and trying to find out if this is the Chinese district. However, I didn't get the answer.

If there is no such district in Konstanz, then the idea for the bus station surely is cool.
