Here is a link to the swimming pools in Mannheim. They are public pools, you buy your ticket, there is no membership - if that's what you mean by "do they accept people for just a few visits -.

I don't know which sports center you are talking about, sorry.

Do you mean SAP Arena?
Re: swimming/sporting
by christine.j
But the SAP Arena is nowhere close to city hall. There is a gym close to the old town hall, in one of the upper stories of a large building, but that's not a "huge sports center". I really don't know.

Yes, I thought that the location does not fit - but it was the only huge sports centre I could think of. Well, it is not really a sports centre; "centre" sounds more like a gym or so.

Maybe Giulikkk will log in again and give us more clues.

Maybe he means the Fitness Company. I remember having seen a huge gym in one of the streets near Marktplatz when I lived in Mannheim. Google search resulted in Fitness Company in E1, 1.

The brand new SAP Arena
The brand new SAP Arena (inauguration september 2005) is the place, where you can see the fantastic Mannheim Eagles (ice hockey) as well as the handball team KROESTIS. Other events are also presented, as a benefit concert, other concerts(classic or pop music and other events)
I haven't been there yet, but people told me that it is worth to visit there.

We have now july and it's rather hot here, more than 30°C. So I like to spend my evenings outside, at the Rhine river. Since some years, my favourite little restaurant at the Strandbad doesn't exit any loner. There are some huts with self service, but it is different now. What I still enjoy is when sitting there, you can watch the ships passing and the people who are not afraid of taking a bath in there... I love a lot the beautiful sunsets there....
Jesuit Church
by Nemorino
This Jesuit Church is said to be the largest church in Mannheim and the most important baroque church in southwest Germany. It was built between 1733 and 1760.
Renovation work is now in progress inside the church, particularly the altar. Click on the link below for a photo of how the altar looks when it is not being worked on.
Look up for a Hunting Scene
by christine.j
The last reigning prince-elector of Mannheim, Charles Theodor, loved hunting. In fact, a deer park near a large playing-ground in the forest near Mannheim started out as a hunting ground for the prince. To make sure he'd always come across some deer, they were kept there. Today you can go and watch them, and bring them dry bread.
The prince's love for hunting is shown on the railing of balcony in the main shopping street, the Planken. What you see is not the original, but a true copy. You have to look up, as not to miss it.
