The former military riding hall is about 100 years old and belonged to army barracks on Ludwigsfeste, opposite the train station. After restoration works it has been reopened to the public in summer 2008. The building contains two halls that are now used for theater, concerts and other events. One of them can also be rented for private festivities.
After the cultural education part in the palace, we headed for the Christmas market. Rastatt's market, situated in the pretty main square of the town between church and town hall, is rather small but the Glühwein and the sausages are good!
