"Wild"life

by tini58de

On the premises of the Schwetzingen palace gardens you will also be able to see quite a bit of wildlife.

When spotting the first heron we thought it was one of those great statues, but no, it moved!!! We did see quite a few herons here and there - there sure is enough water around for them to feel at home.

Other than that there were ducks, swans, a peacock and an enourmous number of carps!

Bring Comfortable Walking Shoes

by Kathrin_E

The park is huge, and there is so much to see. Exploring the park and all the buildings in it, excluding the palace, will already take about 3 hours. Of course one could stay much longer. So bring comfy shoes that keep your feet happy during several hours on gravel walks.

Catholic Church

by Kathrin_E

The catholic church of St Pankratius was built in 1736-1738 and enlarged in 1763-1765. It substituted the medieval parish church which had been destroyed in the 30 Year War and just poorly repaired afterwards.

Minervatempel

by Cristian_Uluru

The Temple of Minerva (a Roman God) and it is one of the temples you can find in the garden. This one is very close to the main fountain of the garden: it was built by Pigage in 1769 on the ancient Roman model of temple with porticos and a covered room with the statue of the divinity.
