from Sttutgart to Aalen

by Taxidermmia

Hallo,

I have some questions: which is the best way to travel from Sttutgart airport to Stuttgart railway station and then to Aalen ? I've read here there is S-Bahn to the railway station. Is it the metro?how much is it? where do the S-Bahn tickets sell?Is there information in English? and,for taking the train to Aalen, how much does it cost? are there reduction for foreign studens if they are from the European Union?

Danke schon!

For train times, details and fares in English (for the Stuttgart>Aalen segment) look at

http://www.bahn.com/i/view/index.shtml

Journey time is around an hour, one-way fare from 13.60 euro. I do not know of any reduction for students but you can explore the site yourself to check.

For transport from Stuttgart airport look here:

http://www.stuttgart-airport.com/sys/index.php?section_id=2&id=5&lang=1

You can get S-bahn lines 2 or 3 from the airport to Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof.

S-Bahn trains are suburban trains. You don't need a separate ticket for them. You can buy one ticket from Stuttgart Airport to Aalen.
You can do this online (but don't forget to bring the printout and the credit card you paid for it). Or you can buy the ticket on spot from ticket machines. No difference in price in this case.

There are no reductions for students. Everybody older than 14 years counts as an adult (in regard to train tickets).
There are specials for longer trips and mini groups. But in your case there is no special making any sense.

Travel Tips for Stuttgart

Most serene part of Germany

by deeper_blue

Stuttgart is located in the Black Forest of Germany (South West). Its close to France, Austria and Switzerland and the region has great scenery.
It's claimed that over 50% of the city is made up of woods, vineyards and parks.

Katzenbacher Hof - It's a large beergarden in the forest between Stuttgart, Leonberg and Sindelfingen, beautiful place where everyone meets on sunny days. Best way to get there is by bike There are also parking possibilites nearby, but they are allways full and the police knows that too and fills out masses of tickets http://www.katzenbacherhof.de/

Amazing views

by AndreSTGT about Wielandshöhe

Stuttgart's second restaurant belongs to one of Germany's most famous chefs, but my opinion on this place is somewhat abiguous. The restaurant is located on a hill above the city centre surrounded by greenery and old villas, the dining room is lovely and the views are amazing, but the food was a bit disappointing considering the reputation (and the prices) of this establishment. Not that it was bad, it was simply a bit bland and uncreative to justify spending so much money on it. Service and atmosphere were both impeccable.

Weihnachtsmarkt Madness

by lilbunnygirl

Both times I have been to Stuttgart, it was at Christmas so I have been able to experience the fun and frenzy of the Weinachtsmarkt quite a few times. I love it!

Jam-packed with people and stalls selling everything from lebk?chen and gl?wein to tights to switchblade knives, the Christmas market is a treat for peoplewatchers, even if you don't want to buy anything.

Humboldtstrasse

When I had a walk in Feuersee area I found this street. It looks like XIX century houses. There are gold tables with companies' names on the doors. So, the business buildings have such forms sometimes :-))
