Instead of immediately asking...
by Joliene
Instead of immediately asking if someone speaks english, try, if you can manage it, to learn at least a few phrases in German. It was always much appreciated when I gave an effort, and most of the time, everyone speaks several languages and will gladly help out.
Going around...

The locals use the subways, buses and trams extensively, not just for workday commutes but for leisure as well. Discount, three-day passes are a good value, and include travel to and from the airport. The trams and buses operate on an 'honor system' - you're not required to display a ticket on boarding, but hefty fines await if you're caught during unscheduled inspections. Feigning ignorance ('I'm just a stupid tourist') rarely works.

Kunstgebäude (Art Building)
by Nemorino
If you enlarge this photo you should be able to make out a building with a green cupola behind a row of trees. This is the "Art Building", which was originally built from 1910 to 1913. Like most of Stuttgart, it was destroyed during the Second World War, but was rebuilt from 1956 to 1961.
The Art Building is the home of the Württemberg Art Society (Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart).
As you have probably guessed, I took the photo from the roof of the tower at the University of Music and Performing Arts.
