cruise
by blackbirdxx
I want to give an uncle of mine a gift coupon for a river cruise. He is 80 years old, so the cruise shouldn`t begin too far from Stuttgart, where he lives. The cruise should take 2 - 3 days. Now I`m searching for a travel agency or cruise company which sells vouchers without fixed dates and which offers cruises on rivers in Germany. Any suggestions? Maybe a trip on Neckar??
Thanx in advance...

did you already check "Phoenix Reisen" ? - they offer quite a bunch of river-cruises in Germany etc.
Have a look at

As far as I know Neckar cruises from Stuttgart are only relatively short journeys. Big cruise ships cannot travel on the Neckar because the bridges are too low.
Website here:
http://www.neckar-kaeptn.de/
Neckar-Personenschifffahrt Berta Epple GmbH & Co. KG
Postfach 50 08 24
70338 Stuttgart - Bad Cannstatt
Tel.: +49 (711) 54 99 70 60
Fax: +49 (711) / 54 99 70 80
On this website:
http://www.oberrhein-neckar.personenschiffe.de/
you find cruises further up the Neckar, best from Heidelberg, and then cruises on the Rhine.

You absolutely have to visit...
by Bermando
You absolutely have to visit the DAIMLER museum. You can watch Mercedes Benz cars from 1875 until now. This museum is located in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim, next to the headquarter of DAIMLER. There are also many factories located next to the museum, where motors and other parts are produced.
Headphones in different languages are available.
Il Mulino

Next to Degerloch station, good tasty Italian food in a comfortable and friendly restaurant. Look out for the daily specials - good value. Enjoyed our visit here.
The bar next door is also worth a visit - very friendly.
An architectural time capsule - MB Museum
by csordila
The brand new Mercedes-Benz Museum Complex is an architectural time capsule, that showcases 160 of the greatest hits of the carmakers. The nine levels of the automotive gallery hold the stunning atrium.
The visit begins by taking the bullet-shaped elevator to the top of the museum, then you descend down on helix-shaped ramps. You are guided by an individual head phone that activate when near an exhibit.
Everything is on the show, from antique jalopies and futuristic concept cars, through the record-breaking Silver Arrows of the 1930s to the regal 770 Grand Mercedes of Kaiser Wilhelm and also the bulletproof Popemobile of Pope John-Paul.
There is a cavalcade of racecars, wonders of the Mercedes engineering, the Sterling Moss driving winner of the 1955 Mille Miglia, Juan Manuel Fangio’s 1956 Grand Prix championship car and the modern era F1 Mercedes-McClaren of Mika Hakkinen.
You can naturally also the newest models visit like the CL-Class coupes.

Christmas Market
by sniem
December is the time when I really like living in Germany. I love going to the beautiful Christmas markets which take place everywhere from small towns to the big cities. Sometimes just a day or two sometimes for the whole month of December like in Stuttgart. There is nothing better than standing in the snow with a Gluehwein (mulled wine) to warm your hands and your body (watch out it get's you drunk real fast :-) - listening to a choral singing christmas songs.
The Christmas Market in Stuttgart is said to be the largest one in Germany, I don't have any idea if that's true but it's pretty big and very beautiful. It normally starts on the last weekend in December and lasts until Dec. 23rd.
