Waldhorn - Degerloch

Well, an unpromising start,- we had emailed (with a reply) we would be late arriving - our room had been let when we arrived but, friendly and helpful, a room was found for us at a good pension nearby for the first night so no great damage done. Hotel room clean and comfy, fittings certainly not brand new but perfectly acceptable. A good buffet breakfast included in the price.

Sorry, this place is rubbish!

My wife and I stayed here during the World Cup and have to say that we will never stay here again.
Having booked this Hotel in December 2005 and agreed a price with the owner, we were informed via email in June 2006 that in fact the price was wrong and it would cost an extra 100 euros. As we needed accomodation during Germany's busiest ever time needless to say other hotels were few and far between so we reluctently agreed.

Our booking also said that breakfast was included, but again, we were told on arrival we had to pay extra if we wanted breakfast. We tried breakfast once and were offered ham, cheese and rolls. No hot food was available and, for €6 each a time, it was cheaper and better to eat elsewhere

The room had two single beds attached to either side of the room and a small bathroom. No other facilities were available such as tea/coffee, hairdryer, safe, etc.

The weather was very hot and there was no fan in the room or air conditioning of any kind. The windows therefore had to be open while we were in the room.

Outside the window was a bell/church tower that chimed every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day, a school playground and a main road. Although this is not the Hotel Proprieters fault, it was impossible to sleep due to the heat and noise.

We were on the second floor of the hotel (more a B&B actually) and there are no lifts. This meant carrying suitcases up very steep rickety stairs so this hotel is not for anyone elderly, disabled or unable to carry heavy items.

Although in the suburbs of Stuttgart, the location of the hotel is good, being a short train/tram ride to the centre of Stuttgart and having local shops, off licence, restaurants, etc on your doorstep.
