ryanair and easyjet

by seoulgirl

Hi. Do any of you that live in Stuttgart or around here fly Easyjet or Ryanair. If you do, which airport do you fly out of and how do you get there. We have driven to Karlsruhe-Baden and paid for parking before but that can really add up. Any thoughts of Basel or Frankfurt hahn as options?

Re: ryanair and easyjet

by geoveo

Just googling their websites. Information of location and transfer from airports is there.

I think that you'll find that parking at any airport will cost more than you'll pay for the flight with Ryanair/Easyjet. At least it does here in UK.

Hahn has free parking to my knowledge. But quite some distance from Stuttgart.

I would in first place always check the budget flights options from Stuttgart.

As long as the other flights are not 50-100 Euro cheaper it won't make sense to travel to airports like Hahn or Basel. At least if you can reach Stuttgart airport by public transport from where you live. I.e. no parking fees.

There were parking fees in "frankfurt"-Hahn already two years ago but maybe you find a secret semi-legal parking there in the absolute wilderness which forms the surroundings of "Frankfurt"-Hahn airport.

A year ago I even succeeded to find "free" parking in a reasonable distance and with frequent and cheap public transport to Munich airport. When I came back after a week in Turkey I found the area with my and many other cars behind a fence and at the fence an announcement that this area was bought by a bank and it is foreseen as a building site. Those who still have cars at the territory were advised to go to the bank to get the entrance door unlocked. While I was considering how to get my car out (it was Friday evening and no chance to get the door opened before Monday morning) a guy inside the fence asked me to help him to remove a bit of the fence to get our cars out and for that purpose he gave me a wrench through the fence with which I could open a bit of the fence (the other guy, who had climbed over the fence could not reach that from inside) so I opened the bults and we removed a part of the fence wide enough to leave the territory with our cars.

Travel Tips for Stuttgart

Try flädlesuppe!

by Pieter11

When you want to eat a local dish in Stuttgart you have to try Schwäbische Flädlesuppe. This is a typically local soup with strings of pancake in it. It sound very strange, it looks very strange, but is tastes really good!

To Stuttgart by Train

by antistar

Stuttgart has a busy station, and with its location at the heart of central Europe, close to the borders of three nations, it has plenty of direct national and international trains. Some direct services include, for international trains, Vienna, Amsterdam, Paris, and Zurich, and for journeys within Germany, Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich. Stuttgart is also on the fast ICE lines to Munich, Frankfurt and Hamburg.

I don't remember eating out...

by acemj

I don't remember eating out too much, but my host family always had some food on the table! That's Mario, one of my teammates with a smile from all the food.
I can say though, that if you eat out in Stuttgart, expect a lot of really great sausage and beer.

Around the main square, obvious massive building is the Stuttgart Post Office. Its a magnificent building with column, lots of al fresco cafe setup around the area to enjoy cool air at the square. That plenty of souvenir stall around the area as well.

The Green U

by JimKnopf

Almost 20% of the Stuttgart territory is under landscape protection. The unique attraction of the public parks and relaxation facilities which cover a surface of 5.6 square kilometers is the large "green U". With the help of several garden shows, this u shaped facility was begun and has been systematically extended. For the International Garden Exhibition "IGA Stuttgart Expo 93", Baden-Wuerttemberg's first world exhibition, a further piece of valuable nature was brought back to the big city.
