Friedrichsau by CIIK
The 'Friedrichsau' is a cosy little park in the north-east of Ulm, near the stadium and the trade-fair. To get there use tram-line 1, terminal-stop Friedrichsau or walk down the danube from the city-center ~10mins. You will find little taverns and biergarten's dotted at different places in the park which serve tasty beer, of course, and typical meals and snacks and snuggly atmosphere (reasonable prices here). There's an aquarium right by the tram station where you can see native and exotic species of fish, reptiles and other creatures (see photo below). In the past there used to be an enclosure with brown-bears to feed. On the fairground there are several attractions througout the summer, like the Ulmer Volksfest, Petit Paris, etc., just watchout for flyers.
If you like good food and stylish atmosphere there's a restaurant called 'Lago', next to the fairground (Böfinger-Str. 50, open Wed-Mon, 11.30-1430 and 18.30-22.30). It's quite expensive but very delicious, modern interieur. www.lago-ulm.de
