Hi
Here some places in the Ulm region, which I already visited:
Bald Waldsee
Aulendorf
Bad Buchau
In the South of "Schwaben" there is the so called "schwaebische Baederstraße", here is the link: http://www.schwaebischebaederstrasse.de/index2.htm
There you find some more places.

In the region round Heidleberg, the most beautiful is Baden Baden, because it is in a rather old building. Make sure to be not there the weekend, it will be rather crowded.

Travel Tips for Ulm

River Blau

by Leipzig

Ulm is situated on the confluence of the rivers Danube and Blau. Along the Blau River are numerous small half-timebered houses. The mediaeval Fishermen's Quarters is one of the oldest but also nicest parts of Ulm.

Luggage Storage and Internet Cafés

by Kakapo2

-

If you just have some hours in Ulm there are plenty of luggage lockers at the Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof).

A big number are on platform 1 (Gleis 1), if you walk to the platform from the main entrance it is to your right.

The lockers come in two sizes. The big ones cost 4 Euro per 24 hours, the small ones 2 Euro. Maximum hire time is 72 hours.

What travellers also want to know is if and where there are internet cafés. For a start, they are a lot less frequent in such medium sized cities than, for example, a country as focussed on tourism as New Zealand. But there are some where you can also buy telephone cards. These are mostly used by foreigners who live and work in Germany.

Some internet cafés in Ulm:

PC Reparatur- Werkstatt/ Internetcafe/ Callshop/ Telefon-Karten
Zeitblomstraße 25 (north of Olgastraße/tramway line)
89073 Ulm
Phone (0731) 37 95 224‎

Internetcafé Saha
Frauenstraße 35 (east of the Cathedral, just walk through Hafengasse to Frauenstraße)
89073 Ulm
Phone (0731) 60 26 327‎

E.F.E. Internet-Café
Gideon-Bacher-Str. 11 (spelled wrong on their website; from Frauenstraße walk east through Radgasse or Bockgasse)
89073 Ulm
Phone (0731) 965 370

Kiss but Don't Lie

by Kakapo2

Kussgässle und Lügenbrückle
(Little Kiss Alley and Liar's Bridge)

In the Fishermen's Quarter (Fischerviertel), Ulm’s little Venice, you find many narrow cobblestone alleyways and bridges that lead over the two arms of the river Blau.

One of the narrowest alleyways is named Kussgässle. This means: Little Kiss Alley. You have to know where it is because there is no sign. So when you are in Kussgässle and someone you like or even love is with you, you should kiss – best someone you know ;-)

Kussgässle is near Schiefes Haus (Leaning House) and Ulmer Münz (Mint), just on the shortest way from Schiefes Haus to Fischerplätzle (Little Fishermen's Square) and Zunfthaus restaurant.

BTW The super narrow bridge from Kussgässle to Zunfthaus is called Lügenbrückle (Little Liar's Bridge). It is said that you fall into the river Blau if you have told a lie. So take care!

Photo 2 is without the kissers.

Little Houses On The Ramparts

by Kathrin_E

When the city's fortification was extended and modernized in the 17th century, the medieval ramparts were not needed any more. Little houses to accommodate soldiers and their families were built on the former ramparts between 1610 and 1632.

Location: Seelengraben, Frauengraben, Neuer Graben (Northern edge of the old town)

KUNSTVEREIN ULM (American Art Foundation)

by eden_teuling

This is the place of an artist, really as we all think ATELIERS look like, or am I wrong??

The Art Center is important for this city and its people and all enjoy to give a hand if necessary.

There are always changing exhibition to be enjoyed and probably also some you won't like at all, after all tastes differ and......there is no accounting for tastes.....oder??
