How long to stay in Berlin

by redchris

I will be going to Berlin in March 2005 with the wife and i was just wondering do you recommend a 2 night or 3 night stay to see most of Berlins sights and can you reccomend any decent priced hotels around the center, cheers

Berlin has lots to offer... it is a big city with many museums, parks and historical monuments in and around. I's suggest 3 nights if you have the option. For hotels I suggest you use expedia or a similar site to find out the best rates for the moment. (Expedia.co.uk currently has a sale which includes many citybreaks). Anywhere in Mitte or around the Kufurstendam / Zoo station will be absolutely fine and central for both sights and shopping.

In two or three days/nights its really impossible to see most of Berlin's major sights. There are just too many. Deciding on a particular route is a good idea, or places you do want to see and make a schedule for it.

Also it depends on what you like whether its::

>>>museums and architecture

>>>theatre and music venues

>>>family related sights and tours

>>>or historical and memorials places, for example

There are some definite tours (riding or walking or even biking) you can take for each things, or even local buses lines like the 100 which takes you on a route of places like Brandenburg Tour and the Reichstag and Unter den Linden.

The first time I visited Berlin I was there for 10 days and did intense sightseeing and thought I had seen a lot, but when I came back to live>>>then I saw how much I had really missed and after months still know I have yet much to explore. You'll have a great time no matter what you do though, it's a fun city.

I agree with the others that two or three nights definitely won't be enough to see most of Berlins sights, as it is a big city it also takes time to get from one part to the other aso. I think you would need at least a week to get to see at least the major sights... So stay as long as you manage...
