i felt like being on ibiza too many kids that only looked for the fast booze... too loud, too cheeky, no berlin-touch anymore... poor friedrichshain...

Hostel in Berlin
The room at the hostel was clean and the breakfast was great. It is close to the public bus and train. This is a good place to stay if you are on a budget. The only down side was the noise of people partying until 3 am outside of our window. (There was a picnic table just outside of our window and we were on the first floor.) I could not sleep. I would not stay there again only because of the noise.

Youth hostel
Essential and clean rooms with eight beds, big hall with kind people at the reception and the possibility of buying the Berlin Welcome Card (to travel with public transportation and to have discounts). The breakfast is also fine.
Unique Quality: It is a very good position to reach the main tourist attractions.

19 deutch marks for a dorm bed ( about 10-12 per room) Not sure what that is in Euro;s!
Unique Quality: Like something from an Ikea catologue- laminate floors, movement activated lighting- but unfortunatly unisex showers- or fortunatly depending how you look at it!

re Trasportation within Berlin and Berlin to Amsterdam
Hi,
I'm thinking of booking an early flight back to Amsterdam on aug 8, but depart on 6:20 in the morning. I'm staying in A & O Hostel Mitte, Köpenicker Straße 129, 10179 Berlin. I would like to know if there is any early train/bus to get to Tegel airport around 5:00 a.m. in the morning.

My plan is to get to Amsterdam on Aug 8 anytime. I need to catch a plane from Amsterdam to Toronto on Aug 9 at 7:45 a.m.
Any suggestions on how to get from Berlin to Amsterdam on Aug 8?

You can always make it by train to Amsterdam.
