Shopping in Berlin.

by Frenchpromo

Where are the famous Shopping Areas in Berlin? Are there any Factory Outlet Shops in Berlin? Are the shops close on Sunday?

Where are the interesting places in Berlin I can visit?

Cheers!

shopping areas: - Kurfürstendamm/Tauentzienstraße (well known expensive brands on Kurfürstendamm, big stores like H&M, Nike at Tauentzien)
- Friedrichstraße (mainly the more expensive and well known brands)
- Area around Hackescher Markt, U-Bahnhof Weinmeisterstraße (smaller, local brands, mainly fashion)
- Kastanienallee/Schönhauser Allee (smaller, alternative brands)
- Wühlischstraße (streetwear fashion)
- Bergmannstraße, Goltzstraße

Factory outlets: a big one is near Berlin (appr. 1 hour): http://www.b5center.de/index.php?lang=en
If you're into shoes, visit trippen outlet center at Köpenicker Straße 187: http://www.trippen.com/

Most shops are close sunday. Exceptions are stores at the big train stations.

Interesting places? have a look at the main berlin page...

How much time do you have? Any specials interests?
Berlin is on many aspects a very interesting place (architecture, history, museums, culture, nightlife, ...). But it's huge and widespread. A city for explorers. Less for ones expecting that everything will be served on a silver platter.

Travel Tips for Berlin

Biking

by deeper_blue

Berlin is one of the best cities I've been to for riding a bike, it's very flat and rental is cheap, I paid 5 euros a day. The traffic in Berlin is a lot better than many major capitals and there are so many parks and routes you can ride along.

Breakfast till late!

by SandiMandi

When staying in Berlin it's not necessary to have a breakfast possibility included in your accommodation. There are a huge amount of restaurants offering breakfast for reasonable prices and, what's best in my opinion, the breakfast (or brunch if you like) is served until 16pm, in some places even till 17 pm, so you don't have to get up early in the morning just to make it to the hotel breakfast, which usually ends at 10.

On weekends there are big breakfast/brunch buffets served in many restaurants in Berlin, especially in Prenzlauer Berg area. The buffet usually includes a variety of bread, cheeses, cold cuts, fresh fruit, pancakes, to mention but a few. But most importantly, you'll be sure to get your stomach full! You can eat as much as you like for under 10 euros in most places, only drinks are usually not included in the price.

If you happen to be in Berlin on a weekend, your visit won't be complete without trying out a breakfast buffet!

Take a train!

by madamebooboo

If you like to get out of Berlin take one of the S Bahn trains and go to Potsdam. Its an hour drive. Potsdam has one of the most beautiful parks I`ve been. Its just nice to walk around there. Nice little bars, restaurants, lakes around Potsdam and very laid back. If you go up north there are all the Berlin lakes and its great in the summer. If people are interested this area is Brandenburg and they`ve got good tourist informations.

Looking for something???

by Luchonda about KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens)

KaDeWe – or "Kaufhaus Des Westens" is the most famous shopping center in Berlin and even the 2nd largest in Europe (after Harrods in London). You can find almost everything here... name it and you can buy it here, if you can afford it.
The 6th floor is welknown for the, like the German call it “delicatessen”, so a Gourmet Mecca offering different products : from “Wurst” to lobster.
(PS it is forbidden to take pictures in the entire “Kaufhaus”, the security in general is of a high level.)

Whenever strolling around on Ku-damm, you can’t miss KaDeWe – Even the outside walls are worthed to raise your head
In general - spend some time on the Damm and enjoy the other many beauties of this great street, or the “Champs d’Elyssee” of Berlin. Just name it - you will find it here - From A to Z

In Mitte you will find many...

by inuit

In Mitte you will find many trendy bars, cafes and restaurants. Some of the new places have a really 'cold' and empty way of designing. I love this photo of a just opened bar where there was one table and one couple like a show in a window.
